Absolutely. Dogs are highly adept at noticing body language. since that is largely how they communicate with the outside world. They can notice slight slumps in our shoulders, saddened looks and other signs that we are "not normal."

I think they're very perceptive to human emotion. I've heard them described as little aphasic humans before (they can understand, they just can't speak), with the mental capabilities of a 2 or 3 year old. I have a dog which even sensed when I had a seizure. Another one was on the other side of the house with my parents, and opened the door, and led them to me. Molly, our dog now, is also good at coming to me and laying her head against me when I'm down.

I believe they do. Such as when you are scared of a dog, they sense it. If you are in a playful mood, they know it. You ever notice their tails when youre excited and talking to them. Actually, last night..I was crying..having a sad moment, and my dog came to me, jumped on my lap (which is usually not allowed because she is 70 lbs) and started licking me. You can see in her eyes that she was almost sad too..for me. They sense alot more than we credit them for. Your dog..will become the best friend you ever had. They love you no matter what and they always want to be with you...and vice versa.

Of course. When I'm sad, my Golden Retriever comes up and sticks her head in my arms and just stands there until I get up and say I feel better.
Not only dogs do that, tho. I have three rats, two boys and a girl. Bille, my girl, will lick away my tears when I'm crying and Judah will lick my nose in a little "kiss" at anytime cuz they love me! Animals can feel when their owners are upset, so they do what they can to make them feel better.
I think that there are a few things we can learn from them...

Yes - definitely. I have a yellow lab named Sugar that is so in tune with me - it's sometimes scary. If I am sad and crying, she will sit with me and look at me with this sad, droopy eared look. If I am happy and in a good mood - she will run around with me and even dance ! Dogs are great friends ! Good luck !

I believe so. Mine always seems to know when it's been a bad day, and he will do the crazyiest things to make me smile. They also feel grief and a sense of loss when there is a death, so I am sure they know when things are not right with their owners.

They do. Whenever im sad my dog'll come on my lap and lick me. But it depends on the dog. I mean, they probably all sense it, but some dogs just don't react to it. They pretend like they don't care. Others will come and jump on you., or bring a toy to you, and do something to get you happy again.

Sad, happy, angry, sick, scared. They can sense it all.

My old dog stayed in bed with me for 3 days straight without eating or drinking because I was sick. He was an extremely friendly dog but snapped at anyone who tried to get him off the bed to go outside or to eat. My mom brought his food and water into my room for him and he refused to eat or drink. When I finally did get up on the third day I got out into the hall outside my room and passed out. My mom said that Maverick came and got her frantically barking, stayed by my side as she picked me up and put me back into bed. She then thought she could get the dog outside and to eat something but he tried to bite her, jumped right back into bed with me and stayed by my side until that night when I got up to eat.

It's amazing how strong a bond can be between a human and a dog.

Certainly, and not only when one is sad, the Poodle would not leave my side, when I was seriously ill, she would lay down beside me as if to take care of me. They may not talk, but they certainly sense what is going on.

Yes. Dogs can find out about your mood by just smelling your breath. They can tell whether you are in a good mood or not and if you want to play.
