People are afraid they will go to hell through the brainwashing they have received. They don't want to take the chance and burn for eternity so they spend their life practicing religion.

Religion gives purpose and guidance to people. And to say that we were not put here for a religious purpose is just an opinion. For most people their entire existence is all because of their own god and his plan for them. Some might say that a person without faith has no purpose on this earth at all right? I mean if you are only put here to get from point a to point b then why should the in between matter. I mean what is the reward for living a good life or living at all? For the memories that will no longer exist after your gone in the minds of people who will to die and then what? That's why religion matters to many!

I was born and raised Baptist, and fullheartedly believed until I was around 20 to 21......(Took everything about a year for it to sink in and make sense to me).....but over time I came to realize, to me, there is no God. So much scientific proof has come to our knowledge and has lead us to see other galaxies, other things that never have existed in the bible and otherwise most christians just try to deny its presence. The statement that we're the only life forms in the entire universe is rediculous. We're not the only solar system with a Sun, our sun isn't even the size of a single pixel compared to some of the other suns in other distant galaxies. We're one galaxy, out of millions photographed, each with its own planets and systems, which would be absurd to think there isn't life elsewhere. God, Religion, everything involving that particular type of faith, is to give people who fear death and the like.......hope for when they die, they can have a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction on their last remaining days. Everyone rots in the same ground, When you die, your corpse feeds plenty of maggots and worms and other creatures of mother nature. We all become just another part of the cycle. There are so many gung-ho believers because they are petrified of the fact that when we die, there's nothing else. We must live each day as our last, and not fear death, embrace every day no matter what it brings because this is our only chance at living. A lot of people can bash the ideas here, but it's far more logical than an almighty creator that's so much more "special" than us and all kinds of other things that none of us have even yet to SEE anything. lol. I'm aware this has become a rant but hey, if someone else doesn't give this a voice then that's even more people in the world who are just going to waste their lives away living for a false cause.

Because you do everthing with a purpose even if you don't realize WHAT the purpose is. Why do you breath? Why to you sneeze? Everthing has purpose and if you read the Bible it all starts to make since, for me it did and if anyone tries with an open mind + heart they will too. God Bless

Unfortunately, religion has taken the place of the personal relationship you can experience with God. Religion is a man-made thing that tends to just screw things up...

My dad always told me, "You can worship in the outhouse if ya want." He never went to church that i can remember. As I have grown older (50) I have come to realise he was right. Even tho he put it so crudely. I was baptised Methodist, switched to catholic later in yrs and am now going to another church. Pentecostal. They ALL worship GOD so I dont feel it matters too much. It's whatever YOU are comfortable with.

Life has taught me that when things get down it can become almost unbearable to get out of bed....function....You have to have the ability to say "This is out of my hands". It is almost impossible to funtion in a day to day life with a weight of a million pounds on your shoulders. You have to beleive in a higher power....to beleive that someone ...something larger than yourself is in charge...we cannot make the earth turn...but we can let nature takes its course.....spirituality is not found in a building labeled "church" it is in our hearts
