The palms of my hands have always been very red - this is worse when I am hot. It is very noticeable, and , although it does not bother me, I would like to know what it might be and why I have it. Am otherwise in very good health.

The palms of my hands are red

Question

The palms of my hands are always bright red. I was wondering what it could be. Sometimes they feel really hot, but not often.

Answer

Might be something, might be nothing... Is this a family trait? Sometimes it is. Is your health otherwise perfectly good? If so, it is unlikely to be any kind of disease. Do you notice it more when you touch certain things? Money, plants, certain materials, soaps etc? It could be a simple hypersensitivity and then the answer is to reduce your exposure to the thing that is causing it (I hope it isn't money!) Seriously, you should maybe just observe it more carefully over a four-week period and see if any clues emerge. It is most likely to be either just the way you are, or to be caused by something you touch.

It sounds like contact dermatitis if it is red and dry- maybe you are using some soap, cleaning products etc you are allergic to. I'm sure it is not this- but i know someone with a heart condition and they have red palms, not dry- just red- the doctor said it was a symptom. If it persists see your doctor.

Mine are nearly always reddish, I never think about it. Try getting a tan, it helps the color look a lot less noticeable. I don't think it's a health problem...I wouldn't know though, cuz I never cared about mine. If you find a cure, tell me! :)

Sounds like an allergy. Wear rubber gloves for all household work. It is probably washing up that does it.
Happy Christmas.
