Wow, one typo and all the spelling Nazis come out of the woodwork. Christmas is nothing but a midwinter festival (I don't know where you live but we haven't had a street fair in months - it's pretty cold outside). Sure, celebrate the birth of Christ if you'd like, whack a tree if that's your bag. String some lights. No biggy. You'd maybe be doing something else if Constantine hadn't capitulated and made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, but you would be celebrating something. It's winter, it's cold, it's time to celebrate.

Coca cola never invented Santa - mealy changed his colour from Blue to Red. The story of Santa has been around for centuries not 100 years.

The celebrations around the Solstice were around long before the birth of Christ. The purpose is to laugh adversity in the face!
During the darkest, coldest, dreariest, hardest time of year, we have a festival of lights and feast and celebrate light, life, hope, giving, caring, and togetherness. The point is to remind everyone to do this when times are hard so we don't despair. The purpose is to remember to cling to these things when life is toughest so we don't give up. Every pagan feast day celebrates an aspect of life, and the winter solstice holiday is about light in the face of darkness, hope in the face of despair.
The evergreen tree, being the only green plant hardy enough to survive the winter, is a symbol of everlasting life; the gifts we give are meant to be symbols of sharing and support; the lights are hope; the feast is about togetherness.
So yeah there'd still be good times, only we'd call it different things.

Well, as there is no redeemer in any objective or meaningful sense, I guess the purpose is to get bladdered, photocopy your a.rse and try to snog Gladdys from accounts under the mistletoe!

Santa Claus has nothing at all to do with Christmas. People who are lost spiritually are the ones that make that a part of their Christmas. The true reason to celebrate Christmas is because Jesus came to spread the good news that He was establishing a kingdom of God for those that would believe in Him, and accept Him as their Lord and Saviour. The wickedness of man has caused God to step in more than once to straighten things out. Go back to the book of Genesis, and you see the evil in the hearts of men caused God to repent of making man. If He hadn't found Noah a righteous man, that would have been the end right there. But Noah found favour with God, and eight people were spared from destruction. So then God chose His people, Israel, and once again had fellowship with man. Again, their hearts were filled with evil, and God let them be put into bondage in Egypt, and waited for them to cry out in their hearts for redemption. It took 400 years. When Israel finally cried out to God, He sent Moses to lead them out of Egypt and into the promised land. We all know what happened while Moses went into the mountain to get the law. Evil once again took over men. Then look ahead to the book of Malachi. The hearts of men were so corrupt, even in the religious sect that once again God decided to let the world stew in it's unrighteousness. Another 400 years, and finally Jesus was born! Man thought in his secular heart and mind that Jesus was going to establish His kingdom here and take the throne in Jerusalem. But He told them that they were wrong, and told them that He would establish a kingdom of God in heaven. He knew that the earth was too corrupt, and could NEVER be straightened out! So He took the price of sin on His own shoulders, died on the cross for us all, so that we could enter into this new kingdom. He risked having His Father turn His back on Him to do this for us. He cried out on the cross "Father, why hast thou forsaken me?". He did this out of love for us despite the fact that men are full of evil. Even now, when most everyone knows what He did for us, people still hate Him, and mock Him, and serve theirself instead of trying to serve Him! So you see, the TRUE purpose of celebrating Christmas is to celebrate the fact that He came here for US to be able to enter into the Kingdom of God, if we would give up our will to do His will! Leave it to man to pervert it into something else altogether. People even think a parent cruel to disspell the myth of Santa Claus to young children! My children have NEVER believed that lie! And they are better people for it. At least they are free to celebrate CHRISTmas for what it really means.

Christians celebrate it as what they believe to be the birthday of Jesus. Who unless you were sleeping under a rock for the last 2000 years, was the drummer in KISS.
