"Teacups" are scams. Idiot breeders way to rip people off. 6 or 7 pounds isn't small enough for you? I have a Yorkie, not quite 7 lbs. and probably won't get any bigger, she is SMALL!!! A lot smaller than I realized 6/7 lbs. actually is. There is no way I would want one any smaller. More health problems and honestly, I think they look a little funny as adults. They're cute puppies, but all puppies are cute. And what happens when you get a puppy and it turns out to not be the tiny little 3-4 lb baby you dreamed of? Please think twice before falling for the "teacup" scam. Trust me, a standard Yorkie is small enough! You will save money and avoid the heartbreak of having a dog with lots of health problems. I understand your desire to have a Yorkie, I "desperately" wanted one for a long time and even looked at the "teacup" Yorkies. But after finding out what that word meant, I quickly changed my mind.

Teacup yorkies are yorkies that are abnormally small. They're not acceptable within the size limits placed by the Canine Council because they're unhealthy. They have higher incidence of every small breed problem you could possibly think of - luxating patellas, hip problems, lots of liver shunt, heart problems, collapsed tracheas. How do those idiots breed dogs that get smaller and smaller and smaller?? Well they breed runts of litters with other runts of litters. Did you know that mother dogs will often reject runts of their litters? Do you know why they do this? They do this because they know that the runts have a much lower chance of survival. This is all about darwinism and survival of the fittest. In the wild they would not survive, however there are unscrupulous so called "breeders" out there who will selectively breed this animals that if nature was allowed to take its course, shouldn't survive. In the wild also, only the strongest dogs in a pack are allowed to breed. This means the alpha male and alpha female. A runt would NEVER be allowed to breed because it would be all about liability.

Teacup of anything are just abnormally small dogs. If you want one, you are definitely going to have to go to one of those unscrupulous breeders who breed for this type of thing. You want one that won't be expensive? That's probably a good idea because you will need all the money you save on initial purchase to spend on all of the dog's medical problems and possible surgeries later on in life. If we don't support these stupid breeding practises, they WILL die out because without a demand, there will be NO supply!!

Please don't support this rubbish. It's awful and these people need to be stopped.

If you want a dog from the connecticut area, I would suggest you do a web search. There are so many organisations that rescue yorkies in particular and they do have puppies as well.

I'm particularly passionate about this topic as I'm a yorkie breeder who does take proper care to avoid all of these problems. I look at rescue sites and I literally sit there reading and crying when i see all those poor poor doggies.

Since they are overpriced, undersized, misrepresentations of the breed...you would have t go to a BYB or a pet shop for one. Good Yorki breeders do not sell "teacups".

Ok, first of all, why do you need a teacup Yorkie so desperately? There are dozens of dog rescue organizations that you can find online, just use Google Local or something similar. They will have wide varieties of different dogs.

If you're seeking this particular dog for some reason other than just loving the breed, please consider adopting.

There is no such thing as a "teacup" of any breed. These are just the runts of the litter and usually have lots of health problems.
