I'm really not good with pain ... I'm worried about the pain involved in passing a kidney stone ... a ct scan found that I have a 4.3mm stone in my left kidney. I'd appreciate if someone could tell me their experience with passing a kidney stone. Thanks!

I won't mince words. It hurts. I thought I had cancer or something...

At that size though, you might ask about lithotripsy. I had to have that done. They use sound waves to break it apart and it passes easier as smaller pieces. They'll ask you (as gross as this is) to save the pieces so they can analyse the stone components and determine why they're forming. The most common type is a silicate-based stone. In my case, they advised no more peanuts or tea...

You'll get through this. I find that doubling my water in-take and cutting back on peanuts, tea and alcohol has prevented new stones...

I feel sorry for you.I have had kidney stones on three occasions and they are not fun.The pain comes from the stone passing through the ureter, thats the tube from the kidney to the bladder;once the stone drops into the bladder the pain is gone.As the stone is passing through the uerter the pain can be relived with Toradol 10 mg tabs. twice per day.If you have an acute attact and have to go to the ER , they will give you an injection of Toradol to relive the pain.

I'm certain they're each simply as painful. People will say start for the reason that infants are significant....however a kidney stone in whatever the scale of your penis can not suppose too well both.

My daughter-in-law had this happen a lot and had to go to hospital for pain medication each time. They told her that her body doesn't metabolize calcium well enough. I told her the reason for that is a lack of vitamin D. (it is neccessary to break the calcium down so the body can use it) She started getting more time out in the sun and taking over-the-counted vitamin D and hasn't had a kidney stone since.

I didn't even notice it was gone until they took another xray or ct scan (I can't remember this was almost 10 years ago).
