We got a new cat, she is 1-2 years old. The first few weeks were ok, but now for the last 2 nights she is Meowing all night long. We give her food and water when she starts this Meowing and usually she wolfs down some of it (even if she just ate) and then goes back to her noisy meowing. Can anyone advise? We are losing our mind because of her. BTW, she used to live on the stree, and we do not let her go out so we are thinking she might be trying to tell us she wants to go out. But, she was fine the first 2 weeks and didn't want to go out at all).

Is she fixed? If not...most likely she is in heat. Keep her away from other cats or you're gonna have little kittens in a few weeks.

Is she spayed? She might be in heat. This will cause her to be meow all the time and she will rub her bottom against everything and roll around in the floor and just act totally bizzare. If that's what it is, the only thing to do is get her spayed. This will continue for a few days every few weeks till she either breeds or gets fixed. Make sure she can't get outside where males can get to her. If she has been spayed, she might just be missing the great outdoors. It takes time for outdoor cats to become accustomed to spending all their time inside. Make sure she has a cat tree and plenty to occupy her time and keep her busy. Good luck!

she may be in heat. i also have a very talkative cat about the same age. give her somewhere of her own to sleep, rub catnip on it so she knows it is hers and just give it some time. if shes in heat this should pass in a couple more days, if not and it is she wants out or something it will take more time but after a while she should get on your same sleeping schedule...give her some toys to play with as well. with my cat, she was so noisy all night long for so long we thought we were gonna have to get rid of her just so we could sleep at night. we ended up getting another kitty just a little younger than her and she has been 100% better having a baby to play/sleep and take care of. sometimes two are easier than one, they keep each other occupied. good luck

It does sound like your furry friend's in heat. The wolfing down of food part is very normal behaviour, especially for a former stray......since strays aren't blessed with food all the time, and have to depend on whatever they can get at any one time, in preparation for another period of starvation.
You do need to get your cat neutered if you're unwilling to put up with this calling every few weeks. It's only her natural instincts telling her what to do. So yes, getting her neutered would be your best option.

Your cat may just be feeling a sense of lonliness. Maybe try putting a nice warm water bottle in her bed or sleeping area and when she starts meowing soothe her with a quiet, calm, non aggressice tone of voice. Hope that you have some luck. Also I suggest that you get her spayed unless you are lookin to breed from her.

she could yes be in heat, if it is female she is prolly pregnant. when my cat got pregnant she would perform like a weiner dog stance and stretch out on the floor and walk in place to ease her pain and meow like i have never heard a cat meow before. and since she was on the street she most likely could be. if not and it is a male he could be marking his territory and you should get him fixed because he "sprays" a liquid out and the smell will never be removed! or my other cat does this, @ night when i go to bed he whines for a lil whle until i call him because he is almost afraid of the dark and doesnt know where i am. but most likely sounds like your cats prolly pregnant, esp. if she mows down the food when u give it to her. go get her checked out!

Has she been "fixed"? If not, she could be in heat. If that's the trouble, the meowing will stop after you get her spayed.

I agree! She is probably in heat, or could possible even be sick. Take her to the vet. It's better to be safe than sorry.
