Depends where you live, in my city, smoking is not allowed within 20 feet of a building, so smoking inside is clearly out of the picture. You should consider other people's air space too. So maybe you should wait until the movie was over, then smoke.

It was her business because you were smoking indoors where other people have to breathe it. Don't bother excusing yourself from obeying the rules because you were "drunk" and it "was cold outside". You know bloody well you were breaking the no smoking policy, but of course you are special and should be able to do whatever you want.
Aside from the health reasons, the ban on smoking in theatres is also a fire prevention law. A law you happily broke. The lady was wrong to make a fuss at you. She should have gone right to the manager and the manager could have done two things: Have you leave the theatre or have you arrested.
As I said, the lady didn't need to cause a fuss or cuss you out. She had other recourse. But that doesn't excuse you throwing a drink at her. Migawd, aren't you just the little treasure.

Seems like you know that it was wrong or you wouldn't have asked the question. I personally think that there are too many laws about what people can't do in public places. And therefore people no longer take any personal responsibility (right or wrong) for their actions they take in public. Sounds like you had fun, but at the expense of someone else's good time. You both have the right to do what each of you did; you to do what you wanted, and she to complain. (Just so you know, when/if you throw something at someone you can get charged with assault. I know this because my best friend got charged with 'assault with a hamburger' for throwing it at someone. I know, it's frigging' weird.)Just as it weird as it is that you didn't get booted from the theater. But I say good for you for not getting in trouble and making it a truly public place; but boo on you for ruining the other persons good time, you don't have the right to do that. To really get along and make a more pleasant world, it takes tolerance from ALL of us.

Listen, firstly that picture is not YOU
Secondly you dont have the right to make other people smoke just because you have no self control
Next time, imagine that was your mom and gran, how would you feel if someone did the same thing to her?
Grow up!

yes, smoking in the theater was wrong. i'm a smoker myself and often find myself wanting one in the middle of the movie- while i'm sober. but you have to respect the "rules" - you don't go to a non smoking section of a restaurant and smoke? i think what you did was rude and should've apologized to the lady.

It was definitely wrong. You have to consider those around you too. And to those who replied that it takes a "real American" to do stuff like that, I hope you realize how ridiculous you sound. A "real American" is one who goes around breaking the law, just because they don't like it?

To put it nicely ..your a punk. Too bad you didn't throw your drink at a off-duty cop or a 3rd degree black belt that would have served you right.

Take the smoke outside...some people don't want lung cancer, thank you very much. As far as this particular instance, both of you need to grow up.
