Hi fellas!! Just want to know whether the airlines still have the tight security measures that do not allow liquids and lotions in cabin baggage, in particular between Australia and Japan. Any advice?

Thanks, DA. Does this include toothpaste, shaving foam etc.?

The other guy is correct BUT only for flights to-from USA. For flights elsewhere (like Japan-Australia) you do not need to worry about these things. I recently flew from Japan and no one asked or checked (standard security screening only). However, if you put all these things in your checked-baggage it is no problem anywhere - it only applies to carry-on stuff. Any gels (toothpaste, underarm gel, hair gel, shaving gel & shaving cream) counts in the 3-1-1 rule.

If it's travel between Australia and Japan, I don't know.

If you're traveling to either of them, from the U.S., here's the 3-1-1:

3 –1–1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.

Note to TomO: Yes, it does include toothpaste and shaving foam.
