In my opinion there are no good websites for children to go to if they aren't going to be supervised. The websites may be for children but anyone can get on there and lie about who they are. I have a young cousin who was on marapets and she was solicited. I would say try to have other things to do for the kids you babysit rather than have them on the internet. A local library can give u listings for good reference websites for homework and school projects but other than that I would be highly skeptical of any website that is for children and I would be aware of what information the children are sending out.

My favorite website is http://www.starfall.com.
It has so many great educational activities for children of all ages. My daughter loves the "I Can Read" section because the children can create a person, their favorite pet, their room, etc. and it allows them to click on words they can't read. The computer reads the words for them. It also has activities for younger and older children, including music and art activities.

My daughter who is 7, loves ikeepsafe.com. It was recommended by her computer teacher at school. She plays on it for an hour each night, after homework! pbskids.org and disneychannel.com are good ones too!! Mine also love the puzzles and games at yahoo and zone.msn.com
