Christmas is a Christ centered holiday - if you dont believe in Him or a God at all why do you waste your time with Christmas at all - if you are sure enough that God is not real dont fall to the peer presure of the society and stand strong in your belief and dont celebrate

Because the true meaning of Christmas is gone, it is all about expensive gifts, and free time off from work. A lot of people who do not believe in Christ, families do, and they don't want them to know, so they just go along with it... Crazy world....Good Luck!

A bit hypocritical seeing that Christmas has more pagan tradition to it that has been stolen, oops borrowed, than Halloween. Yule tide season, Yule log, the evergreen tree, mistletoe, the nativity itself and the date of birth to name just a few. Of the later two which were borrowed, I mean stolen from the the worship of Mithras. If you look at the infancy gospel of James which is a very early infancy gospel Jesus is born in a low lying cave, like Mithras and like Mithras was born on December 25. Mithraism was very strong amongst the Romans that conquered that area of the middle east. I'm not sure who said it but history is written by the winners not the losers. I don't celebrate Christmas. We call it jól (=Yule) in my country, even the Christians there call it that. Yule is far from being Christian in origin, it's a pagan holiday. The church started celebrating the birth of Jesus at the same time as Pagans celebrated solstice, in order to attract converts. Jesus was born in fall, not in winter, so Christmas is not even his birthday and celebrating at this time of the year is not originally a Christian tradition, despite the name.

I'm an atheist and I celebrate the winter solstice every year and that has nothing to do with religion even though a part of my family thinks about Jesus during the holiday season. To me it's a nice opportunity for the family to come together and spend quality time together.

Because it's still a good reason to get together with family and friends, exchange gifts, have a good meal, etc. I just don't need an imaginary friend as a reason to do so.

And before you complain about atheists celebrating at christmas, ask yourself this - why did the early church schedule christmas to take place about the time of the winter solstice, a pagan holiday? Aren't you doing the same thing you're accusing me of - using a pre-existing holiday celebrated by another group, and co-opting it for your own event?

I'm a Wiccan, but I celebrate Christmas because of it's pagan origans. Yule is a big wiccan celebration that happens on the 21 of December. And since Christmas is only 4 days after, I think it's ok to exchange some gifts.

Wow, how many times does it have to be repeated? It originated as a pagan holiday. And no need to capitalize the CHRIST in Christmas, we all know it's there.
And I don't believe in god, but I celebrate it. You put your own definition behind holidays. To me, Christmas is about family and friends. Plus, giving and receiving gifts is fun.
I don't think it's "peer pressure". My family is Christian, and they call it Christmas. I don't have anything else I want to call it, and that's what I've known it as my whole life. I don't see why I should have to change my celebration just because it has your little 'savior' in the title.

Christmas was once several different Pagan Holidays. And I will celebrate anyway I wish. It's rather annoying when Christians get bent over Non-Christians celebrating Christmas, when the holiday itself is based in Paganism. If we want to get that technical, why are you celebrating with Pagan Traditions when even your Bible tells you not to? If you are so sure that your God is the One and Only God, why are you disobeying him by following Pagan Traditions? Talk about giving in to peer pressure!

I am an atheist and I still believe in Christ, I just don't believe he was a prophet or a god. Christmas, while bearing the name of Christ, is not a Christian holiday, so really, why are you celebrating it?

Christmas is not a Christ centered holiday. Maybe years ago it was. I am saved and do not celebrate it as his birthday. We see folks going broke just so they can buy gifts. We see family's get depressed just because they can't afford gifts. If Christmas was Christ centered then why would anyone worry about gifts. It should be all about Christ, not gifts. Then Christ was not born in December. Some say it was in June or July. Since no one knows I celebrate Jesus every day. Plus Jesus is no longer in a manger. He is in Heaven with God.

Ye do err. Christmas is a pagan custom of brutish fools, as old as Baby-lon: Jeremiah 10; Which many so-called Christ-ians love and celebrate as adult "children" of God(on high) rather than "give more earnest heed" to the higher exhortation: "be no more children", for children get tossed to and fro by winds(spirits) of doctrine.

Christians who make and love Christmas obviously make and love lies; Since no other holiday has more lies attached than Christmas. Selah.

Know-ing the truth makes you free of Beleive-ing the lies.
Ye shall "know" the truth....shall make you free(of believe).
For devils "believe": James 2:19. True Christ-ians "know".

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ WITH YOU ALL. AMEN.
