I believe it would. This goes back to the Passover when the blood was put on the door posts and around them. I believe this was done to form a cross. I think the oil places a mark warning demons to keep away. With the person involved, they need to "close' all "doorways" that they can. Repent, get rid of objects (spiritual house cleaning) and get into the word.

As a Wiccan I can tell you that we anoint with different oils as well. These are just physical tools to enhance the spiritual experience it doesn't change what is in the heart. And occult doesn't mean evil, the definition of occult is hidden from view. Spiritual doorways are opened or closed depending upon your choice, not what you smell like.

annointing oil is any organic oil, it isn't the oil its the act of annointing it is your difficulty. initially basically Jewish preist annointed all of us, then in Christianity it grew to change into the same way, yet, some church homes annoint all their followers who then can annoint all of us else. at the same time as your annointed with Holy Water in some faiths you're baptized. The oil the church homes promote is meant to be Holy oil, blessed with the help of their pastor, or church member of the day. you basically choose ask God to bless your oil and make it Holy in his sight and also you may do the same element. truly frankly i detect the human beings going round annointing anybody and element somewhat scary!

personally, I do think it has some kind of spiritual significance. i dont know enough about it, but I believe its a kind of physical representation of something spiritual. such as, if the person was involved in the occult and they are annointed with oil, it is a physical way of showing that person is now under God's covenant. Although it would need to be done with prayer. the actual act by itself means nothing, its the spiritial significance behind it.

James 5:14-15- Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
VS.15- And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Not always is it God's will that everyone will be healed. But the sick person is to call upon the elders of HIS church and its the prayers of the elders and their faith that is asked for. There is many people out there that says they have the gift of healing well according to James they do not.

I don;t think so.
I believe when one opens those doorways tend to stay open.
I have heard it said that taking Niacin will help close those open doors; but have never talked with anyone who tried it; so I can neither confirm nor deny it's effectiveness.

Sure, why not? Healing is healing, whether it be physical or spiritual as in the case of the former occultist.

there is this cult that actually anoints with water, then oil. they're taken to this area, stripped of their clothes, and left with just an apron on, then, they are touched in various parts of their body by strangers, and given blessing.
I don't think they do that anymore, but it was a practice for over a hundred years.
creepy.
I'm glad to be out of that cult!
