I would say yes because the screen is actually flat but for some reason every person I speak to calls a flat panel a flat screen.
A flat screen could be a 20 year old rear projection CRT tv
because the screen is flat.
Tube TVs come in flat screen most Tvs today are falt screen. Only exception would be the fish bowl tvs that are still for sale but usually are foud hidden in the back of the store

LCDs are always flat screen but some are also flat panel. A flat panel will definitly cost you more that just a flat screen.

Also only a few companies make rear projection LCDs. Thats a flat screen LCD but not a flat panel. These TVs have to go on a stand and have a depth of 12 to 22 inches.
Sony and panasonic make both types and Mitsubishi, Zenith, and hitachi do to but they are hard to find.

Sony is probably the most common. They make a flat panel lcd which is there Bravia line and then the make rear projection lcds which I can't remember a specific name for those.

A flat panel is a screen you can mount on the wall like a picture.
It is usually 3-5 inches deep
Plasma, LCD and some others that are not common are flat panel

If you put the models of the TVs you are looking into then I could tell you which is the Flat panel tv.

Good Luck

Ummmm people, listen. There are 2 different types of LCD's. LCD Flat panel is usually smaller than 42 inches and above that is usually LCD PTV or (projection) tv. So when you see one that looks like a "big screen" it's LCD PTV and if you see one that looks similar to a computer screen it's a flat panel.

Yes they are. The only types that are not flat screen are those models that are "picture tube". Plasma, LCD, DLP, Projection are all flat screen.

Well yes. The reason they are flat is because they dont have a cathode ray tube that gives a normal TV its shape.
I suppose some migh have bigger cases depending where they put all the electronics. But all should be flatish.
