I want to make a cake but I dont have the right butter, are there any people with suggestions to what cakes I can make without using butter?

You could try carrot cake or banana bread, substituting applesauce for the butter. Generally, if the recipe calls for a cup (2 sticks) of butter/oil, you can substitute one cup of applesauce, and it should come out all right.

Here are a few ideas, you can find tons by googling, you can substitute the butter in almost any cake, but it takes some skill on knwing what you are doing. What do you mean by not the right type of butter? Really, salted or unsalted won't matter all that much.

If you are using cake mix rather than making it from scratch try deleting all of the other ingredients (eggs, oil, butter) and using a can of soda instead. I use diet soda to cut the calories. The cakes are always fluffy and moist and nobody will know you used soda unless you tell them.
