Help me please feeling desperate !!!!

Daughter 3, won't take her medicine. Everytime i approach her, she starts screaming - hits me, and won't open her mouth.

How can we restrain her ? Has to have it. For an infection.

Need advice on,holding her still. And forcing the medicine in.

I know it's harsh, won't take it any other way.

The method to restrain and give the medicine will require two adults. The meanie #1 is the restrainer. Sit the child on the lap, and put one leg over her legs, wrap your arms around her, using one arm to press the side of her head against the chest. At this point, Meanie #2 needs to have the medication in the syringe, ready and waiting for the first scream to happen. When she begins to scream, place the syringe in the pocket of the cheek, and begin to press the plunger to push the medicine into her mouth. Be sure to aim for the back of the cheek pocket, as it will go from there down her throat. If you get it on her tongue, she can and probably will spit it back out. If she begins to try, have Meanie #1 tip back slightly so it will run down towards her throat. Don't give a lot at once, so she doesn't choke. If she does clamp her mouth shut, hold her nose- she has to open to breath sooner or later. As soon as that little mouth opens, in with the medication syringe.
Now, that's one possible way. Another method involves sugar cubes, and putting part of the medicine on the cubes for her to eat. If the medication doesn't say it must be given on an empty stomach, you can also add it to a small amount of chocolate milk. Chocolate covers a multitude of flavors, and is the one thing most kids will take without question. Mix the medicine in 1/4 cup of chocolate milk or warm cocoa, and offer it to her. Just be sure you don't let her see you mix in the medicine, or she will refuse it as well.
Don't mind me saying Meanie 1 and 2 - I have loads of experience with getting medicine down uncooperative children. I've been a nurse for years, and have 6 of my own. It's always hard enough when they are sick, without having to battle down the medicine as well. Fortunately they don't remember the battles! Good luck, and hope she improves. And remember, eventually she will learn to take medicine easier, and the next challenge will be to learn to swallow pills.

Wrap her in a blanket from the head down not to tight just tight enough to hold the arms Hold her nose the mouth will open when it does take a little syringe of medicine and put it at the back of her mouth, then bend the head downward to avoid choking and massage the throat lightly like you do an animals it goes right down.
My grandson was bad like this too. at first . Now with the bad tasting medicine I can just hold his nose for a second the mouth opens and I use the syringe close the mouth and let go of the nose same time Guess he figures its better just to get it over with.Than to be restrained.

Ask the pharmacist if that particular medication can be flavored. When my daughter was that age, I made suckers for her out of chocolate chips. I melted the chocolate, mixed the medicine in, and put the mixture into a candy mold. The pediatrician suggested that remedy. I tried it, and it worked wonders for us. Some people would say that you shouldn't mix medicine and candy because the child might take too much of the medicine if they manage to get hold of it, but I always kept the medicines locked up.

Mix it with a small amount of coke or juice where she won't detect it and then the next time have her favorite whatever waiting 'if' she takes her meds. If she still refuse then go back to the coke or juice. But you really should probably work on consequences for behavior that will keep you from protecting her because this is a glance of your future and it seems that you are gonna have lots of trouble keeping her from leaving for her boyfriends when she turns twelve. Gonna have to have something much stronger than Coke.
