The type of nerd specifically in reference to women such as Tina Fey or Ann Hathaway's character in "Devil Wears Prada" or from the film "She's All That". The whole glasses & pony tailed brunette combo. Nerdy, geeky, smart, yet attractive.

Please provide one word or the minimal amount of words possible. French slang is also acceptable.

THANKS!

Nerd is " tare' " in French..... - Taré has the meaning of an inherited genetic problem with intelligence... offensive but different
c'est une buse - buse is a piece of cow dung... not quite
c'est une cruche - cruche is a pitcher. it has the meaning of "slow, empty" because a pitcher rings empty!!!
elle est godiche (not slang) - godiche is inelegant...
c'est une couillonne - this is from couille - balls. The concept is that couillon is a sort of an idiot, couillonne son féminin
c'est une lourdaude (not slang) (my favorite) - lourdaude - meansa heavy one
c'est une frustrée (not slang) - obvious - sexually frustrate
c'est une grosse dinde - a big turkey... with the idea that turkeys sounds not too smart
c'est une "mal baisée"(this is a 5-star word) - "poorly ******". I always thought that the insult was rather for the bf than for the girl, but what would I know...

To say that she is looking nerdy (clothes) you would say "*****ée comme l'as de pique"....
there is however no satisfying one-word translation. Use the english version if really needed...

Nerd In French

Cruche, as mentionned by one of the other posters, is probably the closest you well get, though 'cruche' in French also has a connotation of stupidity with it.

The geeky character from "She's All That" is described as a "nullité sociale" if that helps.

Have asked around the office, which is full of bilinguals and everyone seems to be of the opinion that there is no good equivalent.

you can say when talking of a girl nerd that :
c'est une buse
c'est une cruche
elle est godiche (not slang)
c'est une couillonne
c'est une lourdaude (not slang) (my favorite)
c'est une frustrée (not slang)
c'est une grosse dinde
c'est une "mal baisée"(this is a 5-star word)
----------------------------------------------------
"*****ée comme un as de pique" means badly dressed, but what would I know...as a french guy?

"buse" means stupid and not cow dung as onelilithhidesanother said (it's "bouse" with an O for the dung)
