You definitely have to size up to accomodate the diapers (nappies). That's what I do with my childen, and that's what my mom did with us. Good for you on using cloth nappies! It's so nice to see that there are still a few real moms raising kids today. Paying for a bag of disposable diapers is so ewwwww! Yuck!

I used disposable nappeis but still found trousers so badly designed, my boys were quite tubby in the middle, as babies are, and I could never fasten the trouser tops, they were too tight on the nappy area and scruched up the nappy, the designers who make them seem to have a small adult body in mind, not a baby, who is a different shape, it was very frustrating.
They spent most of their babyhood in dungarees which tend to be much more suitable cut and looser around the tummy and nappy area. But I think we should tell these clothes shops that their baby clothes are really not made properly at all!

I use "proper" terry nappies and use nappy nippas with them. i do have to sort of "stuff" the nappy in the trousers, you might find getting trousers which are less fitted or ones that have a 6month range rather than 3 helps. My do have a daughter though so dont know what the range is for boys clothes.
I do find the proper terrys less bulky than the one in one nappies and they are more absorbant but for some reason i always find they leak at the legs if she isnt changed about every hour!

im planning on using washable nappies and have been told that its best to stick to romper suits etc. (not good if you want to go out somewhere nice i guess)
ive recently brought a 'grow bag' for my baby from blooming marvelous i guess that could solve your problem. should be able to find differnt ones once you know what your looking for.
dungarees might be another optin tend to be bigger round the middle ( noticed withmy sisters when they were babies.)

just roll up the legs on the trousers, your baby boy isn't walking anywhere anyways.

my friend had this problem with her children, roll or take up trouser legs or buy things made with stretchier material, like jogging bottoms and things like that
