Julia Child will always be the best. Before cooking was fashionable, before people took much interest in home cooking, Julia Child pioneered on television, bringing cooking to an art and inspiring what would become millions and millions of people to become creative in their kitchens. No one today can compare!

Thats very tough to answer, much like what is the best rock and roll band ever. It can be debated for days. But I will approach it from the stand point of, who has done the most to promote excitement, new styles, ideas and methods to the masses. Chronologiclly, I would have to say, Julia Childs, Graham Kerr and Emeril Lagase (sp). Although filling different eras, each of these chefs, through their talent and personality, have dedicated their lives to make cooking fun, interesting, ....... an adventure if you will. Ridding us of the ho hum, and pushing the average homebody to WOW! themselves.

Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show! Bork! Bork! Bork!
Seriously, I'd have to say Emeril. He introduces people to foods they might not otherwise come into contact with, and he makes cooking so much fun with his animated attitude! I.E., "See all those little burnt crumbs in the bottom of your frying pan? Don't throw those away! Those are yum-yums! We'll save those for later..."
lol, Emeril is great!

I am in total agreement with "Texas McCoy"
The Swedish Chef from the Muppets is the best EVER.
As to human cooks, Jamie Oliver (UK) is very good, and has even inspired many people, and made it a law that schools in the UK have to serve a more varied diet.

I guess it depends on where you live as not all cooking shows are available to all areas; also depends on what type of food you prefer. I am partial to Paul Prud'homme. If you care to go back a few decades, I really like the Gallopping Gourmet: Graham Kerr

its this British guy , he makes cooking look fun , and he obviously has great taste and he presents dishes from cuisines all over the world .
also because im a single man , his show speaks to me more because he seems to be cooking for the fun of it , unlike other women chefs and people who give the impression of being professionals.

Julia Childs, by far, the best ever. She not only could whip up the most elegant of fares, but also make the most tasty hambergers ever. Her range of cooking food was amazing.

The one I've learned the most from is Jacques Pepin, but, Gordon Ramsey is the most fun to watch.
