Ithink it's pig ignorant and i would slap someone round the lugs if they remained seated whilst a pregnant lady was stood up.

If the only parties concerned were the expectant mother or the person with the hangover ( and although many may disagree, alchoholism is an illness) there would be some disproportional merit to the statement. However the party of real importance is the unborn child and for this reason more than any other, people should give up their seats for pregnant women.

Write a letter in response, pointing out that pregnancy lasts for 9 months, while a hangover only lasts a day. (Maybe longer than a day, in that guy's case -- but much shorter than a pregnancy.)
You can also point out that comparing being pregnant to being hung over is atrocious. The former is a totally natural, healthy, and beautiful thing. The latter is the result of a lack of discipline and responsibility, if not a sign of alcoholism.

Hi..Must of been a complete idiot that wrote the article.God forbid one hungover A#@hole should give a seat to a woman that is bringing a life into the world that he's had so many opportunities to screw up while the child will likely spend it's entire life trying to fix.Or the old guy in the back..that fought for a country should need a seat.If he didn't want wrinkles..well he shouldn't have grown old.I would say to him"Far be it from anyone of true importance to keep from you that bottle stashed in your back pocket. You truly must have something to help yourself face your miserable existence from day to day until someone forces you out of your seat."

I think you'll find a lot cold and heartless people when you go out and about on local transport, and its not just pregnant women people refuse to give there seats to, but also the elderly and infirm. Young people just sit on the seat with their head in the air sniggering, while a older person struggles to hold onto the bus. Whenever i can i usually give up my seat to someone who needs it more than i do. Its just a sad sign of the times.

Very sad, however, I must add I am not shocked. Society has become a very amoral and scary place to be. I just had my question deleted. There is someone on here with a avatar of a vagina (Fern). I posted a question asking if anyone else was disturbed or offended by this. There are children on this site and we should all be mindful. I was violated and my question was deleted. Oh well, they took ten points. Not a big deal. I am even more disturbed that she/he can post a avatar of a vagina and if I ask a question regarding the offensiveness of it, I am in violation. God bless have a wonderful day! ****

That's bad. It's just common courtesy surely. Although, I sympathesize about the hangover. Public transport with a hangover isn't fun.

Unfortunately its just a reflection on the sad state of so many people nowadays - selfishness is at the bottom of all anti social behaviour (and I refer to the scumbag who wrote the letter). However, don't despair, for every person like that there are many decent people.

Yea I think thats pretty sad - a) that someone would not give up his seat for a pregnant lady and b) that he would bother to write in to the paper and say it!

I would and have given up my seat many a time for a pregnant lady even when I've been travelling back from chemo sessions feeling wretched.
