My baby does this other weird thing too where, when she's sleeping, screws up her face and makes this squeaky noise. Everytime she goes this she puts her legs up in the air, too.

My midwife says she's probably just dreaming, but I think she looks like she's in pain.

Is it wind or gripe or something like that ?

The first few months of my baby's life, he made LOTS of noise when he slept. (So much so, that I couldn't sleep!) Babies grunt and snort and squeak and make funny faces.

It's TOTALLY normal for newborns to do that. It won't last forever. :o) And your midwife is right, it's not something to worry about. It's normal. And she could be trying to pass gas, too. My baby makes funny noises and sticks up his legs when he's "pushing." :o)

your midwife is right, she probably is dreaming. my son used 2 make funny noises and his legs would twitch, i used 2 say he was like a wee dog dreaming.

If your baby was in pain she would be crying, if she had wind or gripe she would be crying. So i wouldn't worry about any of those

My daughter has always been a fidgety sleeper and has always made noises in her sleep, she's probably fine and dreaming like the midwife says but at the end of the day your the little ones mum and if your worried then babies worried, if its really worrying you take her to your GP and get a second opinion.

I'm guessing it's normal. My daughter will squuel like she's been hurt in her sleep, I'll rush in there everytime to see her face squished up... but then it relaxes and she sleeps fine again. Personally, I think she's dreaming because I'll watch her for a bit, and nothing is wrong and her breathing is fine. Sometimes she smiles in her sleep too. Yours might too, but we're more apt to notice the scary half since it's louder :-)

is that your baby?sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
mine both did that too,i used to say they were putting their brakes on around the corner!
you know when you get a twitch and your legs jerk?
i think because they have been so tightly squished in utero they cant twitch individual bits -the whole body goes!
the noise is i think involuntary like a grunt when you roll over in sleep, but their airways are tiny and get squished too!
i loved this noise so much, nothing to worry about usually
have a lovely Christmas you lucky thing

Could well be a bit of wind, just not enough to wake your baby up, or could be dreaming, either way be thankful that your baby sleeps and its not waking your baby up! stop worrying and relax!

It prbably is wind and when she brings her legs up she is getting rid of it. However, if she isn't screaming the place down then she is not in pain and is getting rid of it quite easily so stop worrying.

Is her breathing suffering in any way? If not, I doubt its a problem, I expect the midwife is right.
