Voodoo- from the word Voudoun

A religious belief based upon the 'spirit entering you' (also called a 'Loa') and performing certain 'feats' for you or your tribe. Vodun priests were known as 'spirit callers' (another name for that is "Warlock" in the original Scandinavian).
'Voudouns' (female practitioners of the art) and Houdouns (male practitioners) often work together to bring the tribe what they need. Spells and Rituals are just like an other faith and are used to promote a better living for the tribe/ village.

As with everything that is not fully understood, Voodoo has had a bad name made for it by outsiders.

30 million West Africans alone practice this faith, so in deference to their beliefs I will just say that it is not just a tiny 'cult movement' like it is being portrayed as sometimes.

In 1996, it became the official state religion in Benin.

Voodoo is only practiced by very uneducated and simple people. If you think you don't fall in that category go here; http://www.godisimaginary.com/index.htm
