A danish kringle recipe calls for a can of almond paste but I can't find it in the stores. Does anyone know how to make your own?

Thanks!

10 oz dried blanched almonds
10 oz powdered sugar
5 oz sugar
1/4 cup corn syrup
1 cup water

Instructions:

Make a sugar syrup with by placing the water, sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan. Stir it to combine. Bring it to a boil and let it boil for a few seconds. Let it cool.

Place the almonds in a food processor and process them to a fine powder. Add the powdered sugar. With the food processor running, slowly add the sugar syrup until the mixture forms a paste.

Store the almond paste tightly covered. If you will be storing it for more than a week, store in the refrigerator.

You need:

150g caster sugar
150g icing sugar
300g ground almonds
1 egg
15mls lemon juice
15mls brandy
10mls orang flower or rose water
2.5mls vanilla essence
1.25mls almond essence.

Method:

Sieve the two sugars into a mixing bowl and stir in the ground almonds. Make a well in the centre. Whisk the egg with the lemon juice and other flavourings and add to the dry ingredients. Mix to a paste, pounding lightly to release a little of the almond oil. Knead with your hands until the paste is smooth, but try not to handle too much or it will become oily.

Have you asked the manager if they have it?
They put almond paste in different places. Our store has it on the very top shelf, in the baking area, with the chocolate chips and marshmallows. It comes in a small tube, like a toothpaste tube, because its very rich stuff. I have seen it cans but only once.
