Very silly game, but great fun if you've got enough to make a couple of teams.

"The Hat Game"

Give everyone 5 or so slips of paper (say 1" x 5") on which they write the name of a celebrity, personality, historical figure or fictional character - doesn't really matter who as long as people in the group have a chance of knowing who they are. Doesn't matter if there are duplicates.

Once they've written their 5 names on the paper, fold them up and put them in a bowl or hat.

Divide into two teams (or more if numbers allow).

There are three rounds:

1. First round involves describing the personality or character for the rest of the team. Each team has two minutes to get as many right as possible until the slips are exhausted. Only rule is that you mustn't say any part of the name written on the paper.

2. Put all the names back in the hat.

3. Second Round. Each team has to say one word that encapsulates the personality for the rest of the team to guess. If people have been paying attention they know who's in the hat by now. Keep going for two minutes with each team until the slips are exhausted again. Optional extra rules: no passing - if you get stuck you waste your two minutes.

4. Put all the slips back in the hat.

5. Final round - mime the personality, same deal as before but no speaking.

The winners have the highest score over the 3 rounds.

Enjoy!

How about charades? It always goes down well, and the children can join in too.
