baking paper is usually sold as parchment paper and it is used to line cakes and cookies when baking and also used to make wraps and envelopes where you can cook meats and vegetables inside little folded bags of parchment paper. It is different from wax paper, although wax paper does sometimes do the same kinds of jobs. But parchement doesn't burn and works better.

there is also Silpat, which is a rubber mat that you can actually use to line your baking sheets like parchment paper. It can be used over and over again.

Baking paper, is non stick paper made especially to bake on.

What ever you are baking and this is required in a recipe, the food and cakes will not stick to the baking tray

Unbelievable Huh!!!

Called "Parchment Paper" generally, it is a tissue like paper that is specially coated with a thin layer of silicone which prevents it from burning in the oven. It is used for, among other things, baking cookies on so they wont stick to the pan.
