Ok, I have been figure skating for some time and I intend to get my own skates. I have read up on skate care guides about how to protect your skates. But just wondering, do you wash your skates? Won't it smell after wearing it for some time and you sweat?

Do not wash your boots, it can cause them to rot and ruin the waterproofing not to mention the leather. To clean the boots I recommend getting some denatured alcohol to lightly clean off scuff marks off of the boots themselves, then apply a coat of polish. Wearing tights and thin socks can help prevent foot odor in your boots as well as using a foot deodorizer meant for removing sneaker smells

No. They'd probably smell even more if you washed them because of mold. Mine don't smell and I've had them for like 9 months now. Don't worry, but you do need to make sure you dry off the blades after skating. Keep a washcloth around, so the blades don't rust. Also, wear over the boot tights because you don't want to get scratches or tears in your boot. I regret not wearing them when I first got my skates!

No, you don't wash your figure skates. If they get stinky, you can get some of those "stink-eez", which are nice smelling inserts you put in your skates between wearings.

In general, so long as you take your boots out of your skate bag and let them air between wearings, they'll smell just fine. My skates don't smell at all, and I wear them a lot.

My skates don't smell...If yours do then I would get like sneaker odor eaters and slip them inside your skates after you skate.
