I agree with the person who said one too many. There is a tremendous difference between religion an spirituality. Religion expects you to accept what it tells you is true, and spirituality asks you to look inside to find your own truth. The only real truth is the truth that is found inside each individual, and every person's real truth is just as valid as every other person's real truth. The problem with religion is that it can accept that every person must find their own truth. Religion only wants to control. There are as many true, and valid paths, as there are people. My relationship with God is a very personal thing, as is yours, and everyone else's. Even those who don't believe in any God at all, are on their own valid path, and seeking their own authentic truth.
So, I believe this world would be a far better place if, among other things, Organized religion would just become extinct.

Everyone who's in a religion wants their religion to be the only one.
Everyone who's not in a religion wants their ideas to be the only way things are.
In short, every single person wants things to go his or her own way. And the more each one of us tries to do this, we see how much more problems and crises we are getting ourselves into today.
But this desire to see all us humans come together as a single body of humanity is definitely growing in our era. Science has come to this too. Biologists have discovered over the past 15 years that the earth functions as a single organism. Physicists have discovered that at a fundamental level of existence, we are all interconnected in a single "thought" (which they admit they're unable to penetrate).
The problem is, our knowledge has reached a point where in all kinds of physical systems we see how the world's connecting together as one big system. But on our mental level, we still haven't evolved past our old systems of religions and morals, because we don't yet have a method which can expand our consciousness to this global-scale.
Thus, we have two systems working against each other - we create huge global technologies, and we use them contrary to the way they are setup.
We need a method that teaches us how to expand our consciousness, to increase our mind's capacity to connect into the thoughts and desires of others. We need a method where we can stop identifying ourselves to just a certain segment of humanity, but which allows us to expand our feelings outside our five senses, and feel every other person around us the same as we feel ourselves.
Once we achieve this, we will never be able to harm anybody else, because then it'd be like harming ourselves - and that's something we never want to do.
The question is then the same question you had at the beginning, but in a more active way: HOW do we do it? What method can lead us to this?

We should have one religion in the world which is becoming quite small with all barriers broken down.
This will be realized by the mature humankind in their free choice with some of the following conditions:
That religion comes from the One True God.
It goes hand in hand with science and reason.
It respects all former religions.
It provides solutions for all economic and social problems.
It promotes the unity and equality of all the human race.
It removes all superstitions and prejudices.
It supports the universal education.
It eliminates the wide gap between the rich and the poor.
It provides a perfect plan to build a global civilization...
That religion already exists in all the countries of the world, please seek for it.

Its really a dream that most people would like to come true.
One religion = One belief = One powerful group = no war because of religion = a world safer than our world now ..

All religions should be banned because all they are, are a way to brainwash and control people.
The people who invented them obviously knew what they were doing and throughout the centuries it's changed so much that it's nothing like it used to be.
People use religion like a comfort blanket, a means to justify themselves.
I say religion is poo poo and I'm a better person than someone that's weak enough to have been brain washed!

It would be nice to see and end to the constant bickering over just about everything.....
Unfortunately Lawrence of Arabia said it best "these people only understand one Law.... the Law of the Sword".
A single religion on the planet Earth?
That day will never come unless it is ushered and forever maintained by the "Law of the Sword"...

Well not me. I for one don't like the idea of being told how or who to worship. And I wouldn't want my religion to be the only one either. Everyone must follow their own path in life, even if that path is not to follow a faith. We all have that choice to make.

Everyone should have their own personalized spiritual path. One religion would not satisfy everyone.
