Stigmata, infirmity, physical pain, the devil, blindness, or what?
Now, let it be known that this really can't be proven one way or another because he doesn't go in detail about it. It's one of those questions that's open to interpretation, but it has been documented that he had a disability of some sort after the light flash. It could have been blindness, but what are others thoughts?

St. Paul describes the symptoms of what might well be glaucoma, an eye disorder resulting from high internal pressure inside the eyeball.
Whether it was caused by his initial encounter with the Lord is open to debate.

The fact that he was so holy -- It was difficult for him to explain how holy-- No one got it like paul got it -- He says that none stop -- Writes every one about how he was a self appointed holy man -- Never stops with how holy he was -- That's some thorn He could have removed it with common sense

My understanding is that a number of theologians think it refers to the fact that Paul still found women (or perhaps men??) more attractive sexually than he would have hoped.
I've always imagined it more literally: and thought that a good surgeon & some antibiotics would have fixed him.
And I am eternally grateful that Paul did not have access to e-mail. Can you imagine how long the New Testament would be, and how turgid, if Paul had had access to current technology???
I'm not one of Paul's fans.

Go to the Hebrew, Greek, and Amaric Languages and read it. It was Paul's eyesight. No it was not the light from Christ appearing to him on the road to Damascus. If you study and research you will see that Paul often had another Disciple with him to pen the works he wrote.

He does go into great detail about what his thorn in the flesh is. He said that he went through ship wrecks, beatings, stripes, being robbed, perils. He sought God to remove these from Him, and God said that His Grace was sufficient for Him to make it through.

I personally believe that he suffered from depression. I mean, he was thrown into prison, stoned nearly to death, shipwrecked, persecuted, etc. God had to keep him humble. Because Paul was smart and all the Gospel was taught to him by revelation from God. If God spoke to me everyday, I'd be so full of pride I'd be dead. So, God gave him, "the thorn" to keep him humble. Peace.

Paul was a very aggressive person. I wonder sometimes if it was his libido. His sexual desire, getting aroused,
but not wanting to act on it. It may have been his temper.

What ever it was, it obviously was something he didn't want everybody to know, so we should respect that.
