Brainwashing is forcing someone to believe something that isn't true, usually through fear tactics or taking advantage of the person's ignorance or lack of maturity. A successfully brainwashed person has no critical thinking when it comes to what they believe (they're even scared to question what they believe) and won't believe the truth and will think of real evidence as lies if they conflict with what they've been brainwashed into believing.
I rarely use the term, so I can't remember the last time I did. Usually I just think of it in my head when I bump into truly brainwashed people, people who will get upset and call others liars when the truth (as in proved facts) clashes with what they believe.

Brainwashing: to manipulate someone, using truth mixed with lies, causing one to actually believe what is being told to them, also known as witchcraft. And I don't know that I have ever done it intentionally, so I can't site a time that I did. Peace.

Brainwashing, is clearing a persons mind of worries, concerns about our future, reeducating old ways with modern terminology. It's washing of the brain.
If I am asked by someone it assure them what they are saying is correct or what they believe in is correct. Then I give my opinion

the KGB used it during the cold war.
prisoners were fitted with cassette-players 24/7 and told lies.
i've never done it, and neither can anyone do it to me.
because i'm nobody's prisoner.
i make my own decisions.
and i also respect the freedom of others.
