Ultimately, they got her on cross dressing, even though they are the ones who made her put on pants. Joan was going on trial, but the guards guarding her had taken away her clothes, and wouldn't give them back.they through some men's clothes and gave her an ultimatum, put on the clothes for her trial or stay in jail. As well, they were afraid at how powerful she could and already had become, how adept she was at fighting wars, and of course some believed her to be a witch or crazy because she talked with God. Excerpt fromt he paper- " In the end Joan was accused of cross dressing for wearing her armor and tunics; however, the only reason why she kept these garments on was for if she were to wear a dress, the guards (who should have been Catholic nuns instead of English soldiers) would rape her. When she was finally forced to wear the “proper female attire” the guards, along with an English Lord, increased their attempts to rape Joan, however they did not succeed and gave her back male clothing which she was forbidden to wear. When Joan did finally give in to the guards and put on the clothes she was immediately pronounced a “relapsed heretic” and condemned to death." Sorry I don't have the sources.

She was burned as a heretic. Supposedly she had visions and she claimed they were from God. Now, while she was actually winning battles, they backed her. But once the negotiations started, the Church had to get rid of her because she continued to fight when they told her to back off. So they branded her a Heretic (which back then was the same as being branded a Witch) and was sentenced to "Purification by Fire".

She was burned at the stake for heresy and for being a witch
500 hundred years later the Catholoc Chruch cannonised her and admitted that she had been unfairly judged - duh.
It was politics - they needed to get her out of the way for political reasons.

Because 1) She was a woman leading an army (a taboo in itself) 2) She was beating the English
She was betrayed and executed, and the reason they gave was because she was a heretic. Back then people used religion as a tool to get what they wanted.

Because she was a woman. The Church didn't want a woman in any position of power in the Church. So they branded her a heretic and burned her.
