The symptoms could also include headache, conjunctival infection, and slight photophobia. In the present epidemic in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, India, high fever and crippling joint pain are the prevalent complaint. Fever is the body's defense mechanism against infection. So, if your friend has fever, he has an infection somewhere. It could be anything from a mouth infection to appendicitis. The only way to know for sure what's causing it is to see a doctor. He'll take a thorough history, do a physical and probably some lab work. It could be bacterial or viral. Urge your friend to do this soon. Your diet does not cause fever unless you eat food that is spoiled or contaminated, and that could give you an infection.
