You were going out with someone in a proper relationship but you still had friends of the opposite sex who came over for hugs? In this day and age I think it takes a lot of understanding over these types of relationships

Its a hug.
You in a proper relationship, but you cant forget your friends. Im sure that some of those friends were around before you two became a couple. Friends are there for live.
Trusting each other is important in a relationship, actually its one of the most important aspects in any relationship.

i have a boyfriend but i still hug my friends of the opposite sex. my boyfriend understands that thats the type of person i am, and i will always hug my friends and stuff.
so i think it is acceptable.
