Don'tcha realize they are just average Americans who may or may not beleive that we ( the good ol' US of A) are the best dang country in the world... Maybe they are just in the military to get a education... maybe its a family tradition ... maybe its what they always wanted to do... maybe its a job they could see themselfs doing for 20 years and retireing instead of stocking shelfs at Wal-Mart. And yet there is so much hate out there that just being kin to someone in the military makes you a evil person. Sure there are some bad apples in all branches of the military ... but there are just as many truely rotten ones if not more out in civilan life.

I'm not really sure why people "hate" the military...I think some people have a problem distinguishing the government from servicemembers, which is a shame, but then again I see people who thank us for what we do and say "support the troops" while bad-mouthing the president. Which is their privilege. However, it is hard to deal with being deployed when you know that you're whole country thinks you are wasting your time. I, for one, joined b/c it is both family tradition and to get my commission as an officer. What other establishment in the world has a 22 year old straight out of college making 5,000 a month plus all the benefits? Maybe they are jealous? Couldn't tell ya. It's sad though...if it weren't for us volunteering, there would be the draft...then you'd really hear some b*tching and whining.

I don't think most people hate the military. I think it is just a very small minority of people who cannot make the fine judgement between what politics is and the people serving in our military. The fine women and men serving in our military are making a sacrifice for us no matter if they joined for just military tradition throughout their family or to pay for college. They all read the contract before signing that states. Men and women joining now especially know exactly what they are getting into to a certain point. Every where you read or watch TV, the headline is always about Iraq. I think some other reasons why people hate the military might be because, they are intimidated by servicemembers, they think that servicemember thinks he is "All that," and maybe more physically fit? hehe..
I am in the US ARMY INFANTRY myself, and haven't really run into many "Haters."

Most people do not hate the military. The majority support it openly. The people you are responding to are a vocal minority. Because these people complain so loud and so often it gives them the appearance of having greater numbers. In the antiwar set there are 2 types of people. There are indeed those who hate the military and everything it represents and then there is another set which does not agree with the current action. The latter set believes that they support the military just not the administration, but what they fail to realize is that they demoralize the troops with their statements none the less. Either way it is free speech and anyone in the military will tell you that while they may not like the comments, the right to say them is exactly what they are defending. Personally I support our fine fighting men and women completely. Their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their families should never be looked upon lightly. I am proud to live in a country where Patriots are willing to take up arms and place themselves in harm's way for the greater good.

No I by no means needed to manage that b/c I am no longer within the Military. But I will say do what all people else is announcing. Tell them in the event that they cannot besides the truth that your husband is within the Military and continues dogging on him and in case your youngsters listen that then you definately rather must inform them that in the event that they preserve that up then they'll no longer be seeing their grandkids once more. And as a few one stated earlier than in the event that they hate your husband then they will have to be hating you and your youngsters. Sadly you cannot manage what they believe or what comes out in their mouths, however should you keep their grandkids over their head then probably they'll preserve their mouth close. I imply the more serious factor that would occur is they may be able to reduce entire ties with you. And if you're rather near with them then undoubtedly so that it will be rough. But you cannot simply take a seat there and allow them to keep to name your husband names. It will harm however it'll harm them extra then it'll harm you and your loved ones. Where did you get the idea that "so many people" hate the military???? The reality is that MOST PEOPLE have the capacity to separate SUPPORT for the military from NO SUPPORT for a war.
There is no way that not being in favor of what is going on in Iraq (political issue) has any effect on a persons admiration for those that are in the military.

I don't see how anyone can hate the military. They can only hate the Politicians that misuse us and are abilities. We are a weapon of death and destruction but we are a weapon of peace as well. Allot of what you see today was developed and tested by military before civilian use. The military has contributed to the developement of medicine, Fire fighting, Law enforcement, and many adavances in technology seen in you day to day life. Heck even the Slincky started off in the military. We just sent are guys to Africa to help set up a hospital there. Is that so bad?

yes people who hate the military are very ignorant, the military is what we have to rely on to keep our country free, right now im in the military and im in the desert for 4 months so far, people who say that dont realize what were doing, we are away from our wifes and families doing what we have to do for those people to have the right to even say that stupid ****......

Most of their hatred is for political gain. They don't think about the consequences from the words of hate they spew! here is an example!

i dont think every one understands that the people in the military actually have signed up to die for our country. I think that sense of duty seems unusual to many Americans.
Also, from my experience, most people either think you are nuts for joining the military or you are brain washed once you get in.

There are some soldiers who are abusive and arrogant making some people hate the military. The Armed Forces must weed out these bad eggs in order not to tarnish the military establishment.
