I am a Celtic fan and I love my team, but I think we should all respect each other for who we are as people. I come from a mixed family and a lot of my friends are Rangers fans and I love them all, including my wee pals Fudgie, Sluttt, LF and Cindy. Yes I know I am one of the guilty ones, but I dont really mean it , I say these things for fun to get people going, no excuse I know. So Merry Christmas to all

You sound like a very nice person. And it's a funny thing, but where I live now it is quite common for the father to support rangers, and the son to support Celtic. I even know of two brothers, one of whom supports Rangers, the other supports Celtic.

But in the town I was brought up in, it's a very different story. For instance my granny refused to buy a hoover simply because it was GREEN. And as a five year old, we used to run past the catholic school holding our noses, (copying the older boys) and all the catholic kids would be at the railings, shouting the most apalling epithets.

So yes , if it was only a game of football I'd say fine. But unfortunately for most of Scotland, it's not actually ABOUT football. It's racial. Personally I'd much rather see a category where we could discuss the reformation, the part played by irish strike breakers during the birth of the Scottish Labour movement, etc. But that's not likely to happen is it.

Even I do get a little tired of it all, though.

I think it's very sad that many people can't see past their own bigoted views. I know loads of people who support either side and get along fine with each other, save for the occasional banter when the teams play each other.

On the other hand, I also know places near where I stay where people have been beaten up for being Catholic or even stabbed.

To be honest, I think this whole Catholic / Protestant thing is just used as an excuse for morons to incite hatred and cause trouble for others.

some people dont know the difference between good hearted humour, banter, and over stepping the mark. personal insults for example about someone's kids being used as an avatar, is not acceptable. 90% of the bigots who say they are football fans are far from it. the other 10% of the bigots are plain ignorant. don't take the healthy rivalary out of it but ditch the idiots

Sean South lol, have not heard that for years and not in any respect at Celtic Park. i've got not got a concern with followers making a music songs interior the grounds. as long as they see it as portion of the delight interior the journey, ecosystem, the camaraderie etc. Infact, I surely have been popular to connect in enormously "enable the human beings sing" (considered one of my favourites i will upload). although, there are people who won't in any respect end hating human beings of a different, creed, coloration, race, faith etc. i come across that unhappy thinking there are lots of extra important issues to get offended approximately in this international.

It's childish. Sports are here for people to have fun watching or playing. I have my teams (go Bairns!!!!) and teams I don't like. Everybody should learn to love the game without fighting, verbally or physically, with each other.

Some people can take it way too far and that's just mindless but a wee bit of harmless banter given and taken in the right spirit like you get here is a good laugh!
