Sounds like a stale air smell since you say it doesn't stink. The other suggestions so far would have a stinky smell to them, not just a weird smell.
You can use a spray that will help to get rid of the odor, and it will have instructions on the can of how to use it. Most parts stores should have some on hand, it will be called A/C deodorizer or something like that. In my experience, the sprays work very well for the stale air smell.

It sounds to me like the heater middle has began to leak, or the hoses that hook up with it choose the clamps tightened up. each so often whilst the hoses are loose, they're going to enable coolant run back into the heater container, and once you turn on the heater, it places off a smell. have you ever observed the windshield fogging up for no reason? yet another element it is is the drain interior the heater container gets plugged up after a jointly as, and would not enable the condensation out because it is going to. you additionally can opt to verify the floor pan on the passenger edge of the motor vehicle to be certain despite if it is moist. despite if it is, then you understand the heater middle is leaking. have you ever had to function coolant to the tank these days, or has it been out for some reason? you may think of approximately seeing a mechanic, and have a stress try completed on the gadget to insure there isn't any longer a leak which you do no longer understand approximately. you will have an extremely tiny pin-hollow in something and not comprehend it is leaking. yet another element it is recommended to evaluate is the prospect of carbon monoxide stepping into the cabin of the motor vehicle from the exhaust. this might have an engine style smell, and can be risky on your wellbeing. whilst something would not smell suitable, regularly something is inaccurate someplace. happy i might desire to help. stable success!!!

If by wierd you mean a moldy musty smell, it's from your air conditioning system. Normally it's nothing to worry about but if it lingers or in your opinion is too strong have it checked by an air conditioning specialist. You might have a REAL issue with mold in your system and it needs to be cleaned out.
If by wierd you mean a very sweet smelling odor you have a leak in your heater core and it needs to be replaced.

I would have it looked at. It could be that your
coolant system is dirty and the fluids need to
be replaced or there is a leak somewhere.
