Im moving to china soon and i've read alot of forums that stated that its not easy driving in china. Is that true? I havent been using public transport for a long time now and i prefer driving. Which side of the road do they drive on left or right?
How hard is it to get a liscence there?

People drive on the right hand side of the road like in the USA
but not easy like Elisa would have you believe. They drive like
the Italians in Rome, lots worse.
For licences: You need a copy, have it translated into Chinese
and notarised, then hand it in to the China Driving Licensing
Dept. This license is only for private cars and motorcycles
catergorised CE . For large trucks and commercial vehicles
you have to undergo a test. China does not recognise an
International Driving Licence. Any lawyer in China can do
the translation and notary for you for less than US$100.
I hope my answer would be of assistance to you. Merry X'mas.

Oh everyone gets nervous when they're first starting, that's completely normal. Please don't give up; you'll regret it forever if you do! The only way to get past the nerves is to keep on practising. You must be good enough to drive, because you actually did get your licence! It gets easier the more time you spend on the road. It is a bit daunting at first, and that's normal, but the more you drive, the more confident you become, and the easier it gets. Maybe start by making a point of going out really early in the morning before there's much traffic on the roads, or in quiet areas until you build up your confidence and the sense of being in control that you need to have in the car. By the way, everyone makes mistakes when they're first starting out too, that's okay, you learn from them. Don't give up though.

Unless you are proficient with the language, at least in reading, put off driving at least until you get to know the place very well.
The problem with driving is not in the driving skills nor the direction. ( They drive on the right, driver seat on left of cars )
It lies in knowing the roads and the road signs are mostly not Bi-lingual. The roads are not laid out in a grid and the other drivers on the road are merciless.
The license is a minor issue, but you might find the cost of owning a vehicle inclusive of buy price, licensing, insurance, fuel and parking more prohibitive than you think.

they drive as American style... the most important is to have knowledge with Chinese, if you don't you cannot drive easily.. and also will not given license too... so take Chinese classes before coming to china if you wanna live there

one thing that you should know about china is that it is very EASY to drive in... second.. .you should bring your own indoor plumbing because otherwise you would have to sit on the floor and go to the bathroom. lastly... be prepaired... they hardly have any of the good chinese foods that you are used to.... and also look out for the fried aborted baby... its so gross. also say goodbye to all the nice fast food laces in america....good luck!!!
