No they do not work. They claim state benifit

The blue ones? (traffic monitoring) yes - you can often see what the flow-patterns in your area are like on your local TV station - that's what they're for.

The yellow ones? (speeding-fine generators) - not always. There are a lot of big bright-yellow boxes that can catch you "in the act", but the technology is expensive - not all of them actually have a camera inside. But you'll never know IF there's a camera inside the one you're passing at any given time (they move them around)
