I've lived with my beloved one (who has hep c) for five years. We found out two years ago. I didn't have it although we hadn't taken any special precautions (safe sex, etc). Now I have check-up regularly. Still negative.
Hep c is not as contagious as most people tend to think due to lack of information. In less than 5% of couples a hep c positive partner transmits it to the other one. There is no proof that it is a sexually-transmitted disease. It is transmitted through blood. No shared razor blades, nail cutters, sex during periods and partner can feel pretty safe. It's not like hep b which is highly contagious. Your friend will probably be advised to get a vaccine for hep b as a combination of hep c and b is quite dangerous.
Hep c is a very serious disease indeed but there is very effective treatment nowadays (interferon and ribavirin). The medicine has been much refined for the last years and many of the undesirable side effects have been reduced. Your friend should not get discouraged. Harder as it is for a woman, hep c is not something she can't overcome.

Well, it is considered incurable, last that I heard. With expensive therapeutic treatments, it can go into remission, or go the other way & cost you your life.
Naomi Judd (the CW singer) was down with it for a few years, pursued holistic and other therapies, and look at her now.
But being involved with someone, well, it is highly contagious, that's gotta be hard to willingly sign up for that, and yet it would be immoral in the extreme to begin a relationship & hide that fact for very long.
If I was in your friend's shoes, I would research the living daylights out of it, especially homeopathic and other complementary treatments in addition to the (Heparin?) latest, greatest therapy.
I wouldn't throw in the towel yet, but get some counseling and focus on my own recovery before I worried too much about future relationships.
She needs all of her energy to heal and be nurturing to herself.
Best wishes and a prayer for her, what a rough situation, my heart goes out to you.

i recognize many such as myself that were "CURED" by technique of antiviral chemotherapy. maximum of the pricey consequences are larger between genotypes 2a, 2b, 2c and three's. i recognize a number of that were cured that were genotypes 1A's besides! once you've a sustained viral reaction longer than a twelve months after chemo, someone is seen cured. those that declare it develop into an aweful adventure likely did not drink sufficient water (it lessens aspects extremely!) and there are different drugs to counteract another undesirable part consequences...and obviously it continuously helps to have a surprising body of ideas and a large help gadget! And who's acquainted with, you're between the fortunate ones who actual experience more beneficial on treatment!!! (this percentage is popping out to be because of the previous statements!) sturdy success!
