Yeah, my mom. She wasn't trying to get points with god. She humbly talked with me a few times and didn't appeal to guilt. Just about her experience and that she wished it for me.

I don't think that religion offers any true comfort. If by appeal you mean something like that. Not if you know that you have sinned and are in that state where your conscience won't leave you alone. Many have seared their conscience by doing what they know they shouldn't do to the point that they don't care anymore. But for those who still have a conscience you don't want people telling you everything is going to be ok when you know it's not. That's what religion does. Faith that comes from knowing that you have been justified by the blood of the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world isn't religion.

When someone is trying to "sell" religion, it's never appealing. However, I've asked people about their beliefs before and saw them light up like a Christimas tree while explaining it. That, I found very appealing.

They all try to make theirs appealing. They use the lure of 'pie in the sky when you die'. They all use it. Some offer a religious version of Apple Pie and others offer Pumpkin. If you want a piece you have to put money in the basket.

A Christian evangelist once told me that if I said a few magic words and accept Jesus as savior I'd be saved and guaranteed a ticket to paradise no matter what and could never be un-saved under any circumstances.

If I became a robber and a killer I'd still be saved. If I became an ax murderer I'd still be saved. If I became a blaspheming drug dealing whore monger I'd still be saved. It's comforting to know that my place in heaven is locked in and secure.

Yeah, i actually had an invite to this church that was having a "Heavy Metal" Christian concert. I enjoyed myself and admired their effort to appeal to young people, even though it didn't really work for me. It was appealing though.

Sell religion, no. Tell me about it and not forcing it down my throat, then displaying their beliefs by their actions and deeds many times.

The truth should not have to be sold. As far as probablilities, then if our existence is improbable so much so that a supreme being had to create us, then I say that the creation of a supreme being is that much more improbable.

Of course.
That is the only way to make a sale.
But I'm not buying.
There are some things money can't buy.
