There are three stages of belief in Santa Claus:
1) There is a Santa Claus.
2) There is no Santa Claus.
3) I am Santa Claus.
I'm on stage three.
Belief in Santa Claus is quite complex. A lot of people get stuck on stage two. However, Santa Claus is like the clock, or the calendar, or the millenium. Why is it 12:27 a.m. on December 18, Pacific standard time as I write this? Because we agree it is. Why did everyone stay up on 12/31/99 to see the millenium? Because we all agreed to. So, why do poor kids get gifts on 12/25 from Santa? Because we all agree that they should, and some of us provide those gifts. See? Kinda complex, but it works.
