Both oleg and wlad have some serious skills. Wladimir in particular is a very polished fighter. The way he knocked out brock was very very impressive. The only reason why I think people hate the current heavyweight is that none of teh good ones are black. It seems like many black boxing fans cant stand it when their "ghetto" posterboys get knocked out by a "lily white" boxers from the USSR. Look put any "gangsta" in a russian prison and they will be everyones "pincussion". Please, all that rap, gangsta bs means nothing to the true badasses which are the soviets.

lol, I am not the one that brought up the "ghetto" garbage. That was fighters like Rahman who wore shirts like "straight from the ghetto", and got his "entourage" to rudely yell at Maskaev during weighins. Garbage like this happened for over 30 years in boxing, and is one of the reasons why mma is becoming so popular. I am sure fighters like Rahman put DMX real loud while workign out, maybe to convince themselves that "ghetto" fighters are unstoppable. HA

They hate them because they are some of the best boxers to ever get in the ring and the only competition they have is against themselves. I've always liked fighting but boxing for the past 30 years has been lame so it's nice to finally see some talent for a change.
I remember watching alot of boxers just going in circles around each other and wondering why they didn't fight and that's how boxing was for a long time.
The present heavyweights changed all that, they fight the entire time their in the ring, the last fighter that was any good was Rocky Marciano because he did the same thing. They get in the ring and follow the other opponent around beating on them til it's over, they like too fight.
And I don't think a gangsta would make it to a Russian prison, they would shot him in the back of the head and let him fall over into his grave.

Your dislike of black people is palpable.
What does this question have to do with your opinions of black gangstas and their Russian counterparts?
This is a boxing forum, so limit your Q's and A's to just that, unless a political standpoint is applicable, which it is not in this case.
The reason that people are indifferent - no one 'hates' them - to the current roster of champions, is that they're just not very good.
The mighty Klitschko has been stopped twice, quit once, got knocked on his butt three times by Samuel Peters, and generally seems to have the balance of a blushing debutante.
Oleg Maskaev has been stopped FIVE TIMES, by amongst others Kirk Johnson and Lance Whitaker as well as a ONE ROUND stoppage by Oliver McCall.
Nicolay Valuev is undefeated - give you that - but against who?
Next time if you're going to post a boxing question, leave the ghetto politics out of it.
*additional*
You still haven't addressed the fact that none of the Russian champs is a 'polished' fighter, by any means. I've laid out the stats.
Histrionics by fighters, of the sort you describe, has been part and parcel of boxing since its inception. It's a whacko sport.
And, like it or not, gangsta rap has become the soundtrack of boxing. Kind of fitting, I think.
You're right, MMA is building a serious following. It's a serious, no-nonsense sport, but boxing has a built in audience stemming from a history more than a century in the making.
MMA has a lot of catching up to do.
Doesn't really matter, though, because there's more than enough room for both sports at the table.
You're a white kid that really wants to be black, aren't you?

I don't think people hate the current heavyweights. I don't think too many people give them much thought. That's the problem. The heavyweight champion used to be the number one sports figure in the world. Over the past twenty years things have changed. A lot of people were turned off once Tyson signed with Don King and became more of a celebrity and less of a boxer. The proliferation of fights only on Pay Per VIew has made the sport less accessible. There have been way too many uninteresting heavyweight fights in that time. The better fighters seem to come from the lighter divisions. The heavyweights are a joke. Butterbean, the never ending downward spiral of Mike Tyson, "champions" like Rahman. I think that while many people liked George Foreman and were happy for him when he beat Moorer, in reality it told people that the heavyweight division was very weak. Sadly, I think some have trouble differentiting between the Russian fighters. FInally, that last true heavyweight champ, Lennox Lewis, was not very impressive losing his title twice to the likes of Rahman and Oliver McCall.
Oh and two other words: Don King.

Skin Color has nothing to do with sports. Its about how hard you work. In alot of cases black athletes train very hard. And while they train alot of us white folks sit in front of a computer screen on Yahoo Answers. Its about hard work and dedication. Blacks are no more athletic than whites. Its not like there is some kinda gene that gives them the edge. Anyone that says that lives in a fantasy world. Michael Jordan was one of the best athletes ever. But its not like he was born with some kind of superpower. Even he himself will tell you he worked very very hard to get where he did! In fact Jordan was a no name in high school and college! After alot of hard work he became the greatest basketball player ever!. Myths are myths but hard work can make people eat their own words! You can have anything you want if you want it bad enough! And obviously the Russians fighters are hungry for success! If you believe you will work! If you work harder than anyone else you will achieve!

Poor training due to excessive "paydays" may have produced lackluster competitors much to the publics dismay. Serious contenders, especially in the heavy ranks are a far cry from the Norton's, Robinson's, Lamotta's, Foster's & Frazier's of old. By the way, all the before mentioned champs trained for FIFTEEN rounds of combat for their titles!!!

There are no haters of the current heavies, they're just not that good. Put them up against the heavies of the early to mid 90's and they just can't compete. Put them up against the heavies of the 70's and they are an absolute laughing stock. Brad and Smitty have addressed your black/white rant. I won't waste my time adressing that as they have covered it better than I would have.
