Sadly, he will be in there waiting for a court date for several months, because it takes a really long time to get a court date. He will be there for so many months that by the time the court date comes, IF he is found guilty, he might be released since his time will already be served.
I honestly think that jail changes people....I have watched it happen so many times. If your brother is an otherwise good person, encourage him to bail out, because jail will only make him worse. On the other hand, if he has serious mental issues or is in need of a major change in his life (to straighten him out), jail might be the best for him right now.

If he was my brother I would bail him out. He may have to wait a long time for his court date. I would not tell my dad since he is in bad health. What are you going to tell your dad when he does not show up for Christmas? Good Luck

Go bail him out regardless of what he wants. It seems he wants to travel the rough road, but you don't have to let him. He did wrong and is trying to punish himself which you don't have to let him do because the courts will take care of punishment. If it were my brother just knowing that he wanted to do the right thing by staying behind bars would be enough for my to spend everything I have to get him out. Your father doesn't need to know unless your brother wants to tell him.

Just respect his wishes! Thats and easy one :) You can visit him in jail an in a couple of days he may change his tune or not. If he needs help theres a group called " Friends Outside" its a Christian organization they may offer his some spiritual help and visit him, people in jail often find great peace in the Lord in there time of need.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Well, he needs to know that he cannot struggle by himself. Therefore, you as a sister need to support him by telling your father. As a family, you can figure some sort of ways to help him like hiring a lawyer.

I guess he is feeling remorse for his actions and he does not want you to bail him out. Respect his wishes.

A little jailtime never killed anyone. Well, maybe someone. He'll be fine. Let him deal with this in the way he wants and don't tell your dad.
