They seem to think we should be grateful. How do THEY like it when people shove religion down their throats?

well lets see:

1. theyre gullable enough to think that they have 'the truth"
2. theyr educated enough to believe that they actually have "the truth"
3. theyre willing to pay out of their own pockets to buy the "truth"

id say that they think that we'll go "wow really! tell me ALL ABOUT IT!" with a smile on our faces and those 'wow" eyes.

Most of these truth knowing sorts are actually just couch potatoes. Couch potatoes are for the most part, innocuous. This is because we don't have to sit next to them, and they aren't going to come after us.
Who are we? The non-couch potatoes! Are we a threat? I don't know! But I think people who are doing things rather than sitting around talking about them (or shouting them) all the time are more likely to have a real impact than the potato people.
Let them eat their chips, full of highly processed carbohydrates and no nutritional value. They'll get fatter and fatter and then they'll eventually leave their couches, where new losers full of opinions can take their places.
All couch potatoes go to heaven, though, like all dogs and sheep but unlike all goats, so worry not for the couch potatoes. They know not what they do (or don't do.)

I listen to them and take whatever they give me and say thank you and walk away, unless it is something that I beleive in, then I might stay and talk awhile. There is no reason to be rude to anyone regardless of what they try to "shove" or say. If you are not interested in what they are saying, how hard is it to say "no thank you, I am not interested"? Being polite makes all the difference. Someday you might be wishing you had listened to what they had to say.

Hello, Gerard.

Not sure that I have a great answer for you, but here goes: Christians are commanded by our Lord to share the good news of Jesus sacrifice, his love for us and what it means.

We are commanded to witness to you. But whether or not you choose to believe, is entirely your affair...

EDITED TO ADD:

Real Christians witness to you, not only because we are commanded to, but also because we have compassion for you, and want to welcome you into our congregations. If you don't get that kind of treatment from other folks of other religions, are you really silly enough to believe that it is because they are 'treating you with respect'? If so, you are more deluded than any Christian I know.

There is nothing more powerful than the truth. Please don't let yourself discover it the hard way.

Usually they start a little slower, like, "do you know that God loves you?" Or, the Mormons start off with this guy and his magic classes. The Scientologists give you a personality test.

They're all a little crazy.

Except the Pastafarians. Because they DO have the ultimate truth!

Yes, but their religion says that they are to spread their word. If I have to be convinced that they are right, then maybe they are wrong to do so. Worse yet, their religion says to stone you if you do not accept their faith... Hmmm another reason to be skeptical. Anyhow, this is really, as far as I know, a problem with the LDS type groups.

I don't imagine they like it very well when people do that to them BUT...you see THEY really DO have "ultimate truth" so shoving it down your throat is a kindness, they think.

They feel the need to share. You can always walk away.

They think if you agree their ego will get a comfy boost and they can walk around on the old pedestal for another day.

They think you should collapse and bask in their glory because they have successfully switched off their brains and it feels so good.
