I don't, because I figure that that would be one more job opening for a US citizen that needs a job just to survive. Do you have a different opinon?

I've done many jobs alongside illegal immigrants that I am sure that I'd have been paid more for if they weren't there. That's where I started.

Might I add that I am now very well off now.

Girl below me, I DID those jobs. That´s why I could buy and sell you now.

No.....because of many reasons. It used to be years ago that starting out at minimum wage was for people who were new to the job scene. It used to be that after a period of time and with that experience.....you never had to settle for minimum wage again because you had experience. Never minimum wage if you had additional education. Now.....not much of that matters. Even if your educated and 35 years of experience.....if you try and find a new job there's a darn good chance you will start at the bottom again since CHEAP is more valuable than experience, quality and education. More and more businesses are not concerned about working conditions, perks or how they treat their employees. If there's a place that has a constant listing for employees....there's a 99% chance it's a lousy place to work. Sometimes it's more than lousy pay that's the problem. After awhile, if a business wants to stay in business, they are forced to take a look at why they can't find or keep labor and hopefully there will be changes for the better. There won't be if there's an endless line of disposable people to do the job. If there's unhealthy things going on....I want someone who knows about this to be able to report it, not just let the practice continue because they are afraid to be deported. We have enough of our own citizens who are afraid of loosing jobs or can't afford an attorney to fight some of these things....let alone millions of others willing to look the other way. Not to mention too many not knowledgable of basic health issues to even understand the danger to others. Even if they make them legal....it's not going to have much an impact in certain areas if they don't understand what's going on. It's like we've just taken huge steps backwards and it concerns me.

Americans still work every job illegals work, as do legal immigrants. The work was done before illegals came and dragged down wages so an American could no longer raise a family on the wages. We don't want wages Americans can't raise a family on. For one thing, the people who get those wages tend to 'make up' the difference through food stamps for their children and other social services we pay for. That means we have to pay for the employer's 'cheap labor'.

Absolutely not. First, they drive down wages for those low paying jobs. Why would an employer, like Swift (of premium Brown-n-Serve sausage fame) want to pay minimum wage + employment taxes when they can pay some "undocumented" worker half of that? Second, there are plenty of Americans who would take those jobs, were the pay increased to six or seven dollars an hour, thereby reducing welfare roles. Third, these illegals often use falsified credentials to obtain employment (read: identity theft). Fourth, these people consume a disproportionate share of public resources (police, welfare, emergency room, etc.) No, it is definitely NOT good that these people are working at low-paying jobs "the rest of us don't want to do."

There has never been"a job that Americans wont do" or hasn't done at one time or another. The problem is the fact that because the illegal aliens will do those jobs for very small wages is the problem.Legal Americans ,even very poor Americans need more money to maintain their life and support their family's.They don't live 10 or more stuffed into a small apt.or small house.Even our poor here in the USA live better than some of the illegals do in their home country's..Americans aren't lazy ,who do you think did those jobs (at a higher wage) before the illegals flooded this country.? Legal American citizens did.
This illegal invasion affects the jobs and earning power of Americas most vulnerable, our un and under educated.are the ones losing their jobs to illegal aliens that will accept much lower wages for the menial jobs.

The price of goods such as produce would not increase more than 3% ,if the illegal aliens were deported. The rhetoric that we would be facing lettuce at $ 25 a head is liberal BS propagated by scare tactics of illegal alien supporters and they NEVER have facts to back up their fairy tails. The US government would not collapse economically if all the illegals were deported.Another lie.

No. This is an argument that the businesses use and the illegals and their supporters have jumped on.

It's a stupid argument because crappy jobs have always been around and have always gotten done. Teen agers used to bring in the crops when I was growing up. My mother worked in a potato processing plant during harvest. It was a way to make a little extra money to help support the family. Not only that but it taught the young people the pride of being able to make money. That is all gone now. Thanks!

All it does is allow the fat cat businesses to pay even lower wages for not just the crappy jobs but all jobs but then the illegals and their supporters don't care because they don't care about Americans or America.

Go ahead and give me a thumbs down because I see my beloved country going to h*ll.

I for one doubt produce is going to shoot up to what was $20.00 for lettuce. It can always be imported from around the world so the illegal aliens are not the ones holding America together. Most of them lack a formal education which means many are not going to advance any further from what they have now. All I noticed is to many excuses are made up for a group of people who can work hard but apparently they lack real life skills. When you have these people who cannot read or write English it's put's us all at danger just from the stand point of driving on open roads they cannot comprehend what the traffic signs say to do or not do. About all they have accomplish is causing more problems than solutions. The employers are making enough money to where they can pay a living wage. That's not our problem it's theirs

No they are hurting the citizens here who are untrained and uneducated. The jobs they are taking they are taking from the people who can least afford it. The jobs are not jobs that Americans want do but rather jobs that many are overqualified for. There is a need of these jobs for our younger people who as of yet do not have a marketable skill.

Why should an employer hire an American for the minium wage when they can hire an illegal for less then mimium plus not pay into unemployement.( a company does have to pay a certain percentage to unemployment even if they have no intention of laying people off.) The company will take the illegal especially seeing as the government is not enforcing the illegal laws.
People will scream the price of everything will go up your going to pay 15 dollars for a head of lettuce. That's so untrue. Number one people will take those jobs. Further more if an employer can't find people to take those jobs they can have legal imigrants come over to work those jobs.

That is a false statement. You must have picked up the idea that Americans dont want these jobs, from Liberals. There are some Americans so poor and hungry, they are willing to take meanial jobs, and even Americans who would like for their teenage children growing up, to get the jobs illegals take away.
Americans WANT these JOBS! And they should have them, not illegals who steal identities of our citizens, who are basically stealing, aside from breaking American laws.
The "low paying" jobs as you put it, belong to the teenager's, and those Americans who merely want to survive, and not have to get welfare. They'd rather work for their survival, that to lay down, like illegals and get it free off the taxpayer's!

Your asking an age old question. There are jobs that U.S. citizens won't work. There is proof that cheap labor benefits the consumer. Having said that, there is also evidence that an illegal immigrant is a tax burden. Simplistically, our vegetables are cheap, but their medical expenses are high. The tax payer pays. I believe that the government needs to find ways that allow seasonal workers to enter but then exit when the work is done.
