I too have long curly hair. She should try to do deep conditioning before anything. If her hair is frizzy that means it's too dry she could use cholesterol try on of these products Queen Helene, Lustrasilk, Dark and Lovely, Only Natural, Le Kair, Palmer's, Africa's Best, or Divine, personally I like Queen Helene and Le Kair. She should apply the product generously to dry hair concentrating on the ends. Wear a plastic shower cap and wrap a hot towel on it. Sit under a doom hooded dryer for about 30 minutes. She should leave it on for about two hours if she can't go under a doom hooded dryer. Then just rinse and style. She should do this once a week to keep her hair healthy and frizz-free. She should use wide toothed combs if she is going to wear it down. Brushing it will only make it more frizzy. Use alcohol-free styling products. Try using curl defining mouse coupled with hair spray style and leave alone. I like Alberto VO5 Red Styling Mousse, Curvaceous Curls. Also use a shampoo for dry hair or oil base shampoos.

Aw, for cryin' out loud! Curly hair needs much more moisture than other hairtypes. Gels and other types of goo-in-a-bottle usually dry out hair, making it even fuzzier. (Newsflash: "frizz" is dryness and damage, nothing else)
Steer her over to this place:
www. forums. longhaircommunity. com
It's an amazing repository of information about all hairtypes. With more naturla haircare, you keep what you get, meaning that it doesn'r wash off and have to put back on the next day. I strongly reccomend that your friend take a look at this forum.
'Best of luck!

Ok, for curly hair that is dry and frizzy you should use some argan oil to get it soft, healthy and without frizz. Argan oil is not greasy and it's really light and easy to use. It smoothes hair down and makes it soft and healthy while preventing damage and split ends, I use one called Pro Natural’s that I got online. You just put some on damp hair after a shower and style your hair as usual. Really helps a lot :)

My friend also has untameable hair, we find that using gel and other "wet" products only hold it for so long, before making it worse! lol.
So I use wax in her hair. Even though wax is generally for short hair, brush her hair, make sure there are no knots, put a nice heap of wax on your hand and rub your hands together until its warm, then evenly run it through her hair. It adds a nice texture. It doesn't make it 100% smooth, but it does make it look natural and pretty without being wild and frizzy.

Try Citre-shine shine miracle.Make sure you don't just put it on the top layer.Bend over and work some thru then part hair about 1/2 way up and run some thru there also. I have the same problem I've also found that the less you do w/ it the better (as far as brushing) comb it, fix it, and LEAVE IT ALONE !!

I have similar hair, long and very curly. Here is what I do to tame it:
1. After washing, spray on a leave-in conditioner, run through with a pick, and wrap it in a towel. This is the conditioner I'm using right now:
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=26983&catid=11938&trx=GFI-0-EVGR-49973&trxp1=10782&trxp2=26983&trxp3=1&trxp4=20&btrx=BUY-GFI-0-EVGR-49973
2. Take it out of the towel and scrunch in mousse, hair spray and this:
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=143674&catid=3562&trx=GFI-0-EVGR-49973&trxp1=10782&trxp2=143674&trxp3=1&trxp4=6&btrx=BUY-GFI-0-EVGR-49973
Its for straight hair, but really works well on curls too.
3. Blow dry upside-down, or let it dry naturally.
Hope that helps!

you might want to try loosening the curls a bit, that way they'll be easier to handle and lighter too. Use a curl defining gel, rub it between your palms, and run your fingers down a section of hair slowly, to stretch out the curls. good luck hun, nice lookin out for your friend
