To begin, there are Constitutional prohibitions preventing the military from conducting civil enforcement within the borders of the United States. Having said that though, there are currently about 6,000 National Guard troops deployed along the southwestern border. They can be deployed due to the National Guard mandate permits them to reinforce and assist civil authorities more readily than the more restricted federalized components of the military.

The Guard's job is to assist enforcement efforts through observation and reporting, training, construction of roads and fencing, freeing agents from less critical tasking so that they may be redeployed, etc. Notice that none of that includes taking enforcement action. It is also important to note that National Guard units have a different mandate than federalized military units and can therefore provide support that the federalized components cannot.

What most people don't realize is that immigration law is the most difficult to enforce. Even tax code is more simplified. For example, there is a place in Mexico that was part of the United States until about 50 years ago. Due to changes in the border that area was turned over the Mexico. Someone entering the United States that grew up in this area might just be a U.S. citizen. There are dozens of such concerns derived from treaties, court decisions, temporary protected status grants, etc. This requires a highly trained officer to deal with.

Activate the National Guard on the border states of both Mexico and Canada. Arm, equip and train the troops for the mission and give them shoot-to-kill orders. Drastic times call for drastic measures.

It makes sense for US anti-illegals to support the protection of Mexico's southern border because many of the ones entering the US through Mexico illegally are from other latin american countries. Many whites cannot tell them apart from Mexicans. And these people using Mexico as a portal to the US are creating a lot of problems for Mexican law enforcement.

It would violate the Posse Comitatus Act which restricts or prohibits using the Armed Forces for police work.

If it comes to that, but I think first we need to just build an entire fence (not just in patches like we have it now). And put barbed wire on top of the fence.
