Not in Southern LA. Every parade has necklaces and candy. Mardi Gras, festivals, celebrations, Christmas, Thanksgiving, even when the military men and women come home. We do it to celebrate!

i havent experienced any of that, but i suppose its because of where i get my gifts, my own little hands, ive been quilting and painting since june. stupid isnt it, i know im just a total moron, but i have made all my own gifts for people since i was seven and at 59 im still doing it. I must have made a thousand doll dresses, pillows, potholders, table decorations, i painted all my christmas cards, made candy, painted several pictures, one i just gave a friend tonight, after she had to put the dog to sleep last night and i had already done a portrait of the dog, i knew it wasnt well. You see, i dont have much family or many friends. but the ones i do have know its from the heart, no matter what, Blessed Be

Guess you haven't been to a Mardi Gras Parade or event! (otherwise you would know that Christmas is NOT the only time of year that candy is thrown at people's heads -- and those beads, ah, yes, all those beads thrown at people's heads too).
