Cats, like most other animals, have a "picking-order".The more agressive cat is the boss, thats how it ended up.Just comfort the lower ranked one,and try to train the bosscat by a "no" when he is overdoing it.Pet both the same, dont give either one a reason to be jealous.Just like with kids.

this may sound silly, but talk to your cats. i would be upstairs with patches (my aggressive cat) and tom (my less aggressive cat) would come upstairs, and when patches would start growling, i would pet her and say "look patches, its tom! he's come to visit you! he's a really nice cat, and wants to be your friend!" then i would sit there and pet them both and play with them both at the same time. i always give them equal amounts of attention, and after a few weeks, they started playing together, and sleeping together. its no doubt, that patches is still the dominate cat, but the fur dosent fly like it used to. at least they can tolerate being in the same room, and now they can tolerate each other. worked for me! good luck!

umm, you can't really...one cat will always be the dominating cat...but definitely give your cat plenty of attention so he doesn't feel outcasted or threatened...the other cat will still give him a hard time but as long as you show your cat affection and attention he should feel alright...good luck :)
