Condors are members of the vulture family. There are two species, California Condor and Andean Condor. They are the largest flying birds in the world. The California Condor is extremely endangered. All wild birds were captured and put into a breeding program to preserve the breed in the 1980s. The offspring of these birds are being released in several locations in hopes of re-establishing the wild population. Andean Condors are found in South America all the way down the west side of the continent.
