I have found that OXY works awesome. Just the simple white bottle. It's a spot treatment, not a face wash, but it always kills my zits and I've had some problems in the past.
Oh and be careful not to overdry your face, it can cause your skin to go into overdrive and produce a lot more oil because it's being deprived of it.

I have had an acne problem my whole adulthood. The over the counter product that I have found the best, without salysic acid, is made by Mary Kay. It is about 8$ a tube but it works great. I got married a few years ago and only a about 10 days to clear up some acne and this did the job.

With all the research I've done on the subject -- lots, I've found that most people do okay with a combination of benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. The strongest products are not necessarily the best. The generic brands are just as good as the name brand. Try a low dose of benzoyl peroxide solution (2.5-5.0%) once a day in the morning, and an astringent with salicylic acid once a day at night. Try to find an astringent with a low amount of alcohol in it. Alcohol may seem to dry things up, but in the long run will actually make your acne worse. Good luck!

Being allergic to salycilic acid rules out a lot of OTC products. You may want to try going with a more natural route. I have really sensitive skin, and this works for me, so, might be worth a try.
Wash with a gentle nonsoap cleanser, like Basis or Neutrogena. Then swipe some Witch Hazel (available at the pharmacy) on your whole face. It's a natural antiseptic that will remove the acne causing bacteria without stripping your face too dry. When you see a pimple starting to form, dab on a little lemon juice with a cotton swab. It dries it right up.
Don't pick, don't squeeze, and try not to touch your face. I'm sure you knew that, but it bears repeating. :)

try something with benzoyl peroxide- (not sure of spelling), watch your diet and don't think for a moment nibbling on any forbidden thing won't hurt- if you have acne you have to be a soldier and right on to every thing, also drink at least 8 classes of water per day to make your system function, stay away from sugar, tea and coffee, a cup every day or every few days is ok but if you can drink green tea - better still. I've had acne for years and will still break out if i don't watch out for these things and i'm in my 50's, also try meditation to keep the stress levels down. of course clean skin and home helps-----i read something about ponocyl acne gell but no personal experience

Then you may not have common acne but some other form of skin condition caused by sensitivty, which could include hypertension, diet, hygiene methods or frequency or possibly you have an bacterial infection that requires anti-biotic creams and pills like E-mycin.

Check this out, guy! http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com/remedy/Acne.html ^_^ I looked that up, just for you! I like home remedies, because they're cheap and usually more helpful than the crap you go out and buy. I mean honestly, I trust natural cures better than some corperation that's trying to make money off of people who want to fix their problems. Half the time they have all this extra crap in their concoctions that only makes your problem worse, or has side effects straight outta Hell. Good luck, man.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
