A very bad idea. Ketosis is when you have high levels of ketones in your urine. Ketosis is usually seen in uncontrolled diabetics, an people with amino acid metabolism disorders. (I'm sure you can see why that's not such a great thing.)

There are diets out there that restrict carbohydrates so much that your body starts pulling fuel out of the fat cells just to power the brain. That sounds good, until you realize that carbohydrates (Specifically glucose) are your brain's preferred fuel, and it does not operate well on anything else. So, ketosis diets cause fatigue, fogginess, and occasionally memory loss. Bad stuff.

The best plan is still a healthy balanced diet and exercise. Technically speaking, you will have trace amounts of urine ketones with healthy weight loss, but these ketosis plans cause high levels, and are not healthy.

If you really want to know about ketosis from the experts who have a combined 50+ years of experience in research, try reading "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living" by Dr. Jeff Vogel and Dr. Steve Phinney. Stop spreading the panic and lies, and get the real, true information from top researchers in their field. It is NOT dangerous unless it's ketoacidosis; a ketogenic diet is THE best diet for those with Type 2 diabetes, and the so-called "balanced diet" is the very thing that caused the obesity epidemic in the West. Don't listen to rumors; do the research and go to reliable sources. Anybody can "answer" one of these questions but they are way off the mark here.

I don't know about the "plan". But to my knowledge ketosis is the most powerful hunger-supressant that the body releases - people usually get it or achieve ketosis during fasting (water fast or juice fast) over a period of days.

That's the Dr. Atkins diet!!! DON'T DO IT!!!! By the way he's now dead. Apparently he slipped and cracked his head on the pavement. Post mortem suggested that he was carrying a lot of extra weight. Hmmmmmmm...... Very restrictive diet, very high protein with lots of cheese and meats allowed. Very low fibre allowed ie: fruit and grains!! Pleeeeeeeeease do raw fruit and vegie instead with lots of water and a Multi B Vitamin, Omega 3, maybe try Spirulina to pump your iron and protein levels and Vit C, make sure you get enough Vit. E as well ( good for skin and cell repair) etc...... My cholesterol shot sky high when I tried his diet and I only followed it for 3 months.........Good luck....Go Natural.....
